6/28/12 Impact Wrestling Report

Impact Wrestling opens up and a review video package of the situation with Austin Aries giving up the X Division Championship for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship, as well as the A.J. Styles/Dixie Carter storyline coming full circle.

We see A.J. and Dixie talking backstage. Dixie said she is glad everything is over with and is ready to move on. A.J. says he is going to the ring to “woop the piss” out of Daniels and Kazarian.

We go into the arena and Mike Tenay and Taz remind us that the Bound for Glory Series will be back in action tonight, and A.J. Styles and  Kurt Angle will defend the tag titles against Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. We then see Dixie and Claire walking backstage.

Match #1: Bound for Glory Series Match: Mr. Anderson vs. Rob Van Dam
The men tie up in the ring and Anderson eventually catches RVD with a roll up for a two count. They exchange pin attempts and then have a standoff in the ring. Anderson clocks RVD with a right hand and take him down for another pin cover, but RVD kicks out at two. Anderson suplexes RVD and attempts another, but RVD catches Anderson with his educated feet for a two count. RVD takes Anderson down with a drop toe hold and floats over into a submission hold. Anderson gets to the ropes and RVD drives a knee into Anderson’s midsection and goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Anderson gets RVD in a headlock, but RVD shoots him off the ropes and they exchange leap frogs before Anderson takes RVD down with a back elbow. RVD comes back and takes Anderson down with some right hands. RVD hits the handspring back moonsault for a two count. RVD goes up top and goes for the split-leg moonsault, but Anderson gets his knees up. Anderson goes for the mic check, but RVD counters with elbows to the head. Anderson connects with a neck breaker and goes for the cover, but RVD kicks out at two. Anderson gets a headlock on RVD, but RVD drives him into the corner and causes the break. RVD counters Anderson and drops Anderson’s shoulders to the mat for the pin fall. Winner: Rob Van Dam. We see that RVD picks up 7 points and moves into 5th place, right behind Mr. Anderson in 4th.

Austin Aries’ music hits and he walks out to the ring as we go to a commercial. We’re back from the commercial and Aries talks about his meeting with Hogan. He says the decision to give up the X Division Championship was not an easy one to make. He says he has moved past the X Division and is moving on up. He says there will be a tournament at Destination X to determine a new X Division Champion and says he is excited for it. Bobby Roode’s music hits and he makes his way out. Roode says Aries sounds pathetically over-confident. Roode tells Aries to take a good look at him and what he is holding. Roode says he made the World Heavyweight Championship the most prestigious title in the world. Roode says the only reason Aries is in the main event at Destination X is because of Hulk Hogan. Roode says Option C is nothing but a failure, because Aries is setting himself and the X Division up for failure. Roode says he will make sure that Aries fails. Roode says Aries he isn’t in his league and tells him to get out of his ring. Aries says the ring is his and since Roode wants him to leave, he has to make him. They tease a fight, but Roode grabs his title belt and leaves the ring.

We go back to last weeks Impact and see the video of Claire’s confession of the A.J./Dixie situation. We then go live backstage, where Claire is being interviewed with Dixie, basically just recalling the entire storyline. We then cut to Daniels and Kazarian in the locker room, arguing, and Kazarian storms out as we go to a commercial.

Match #2: TNA X Divivion Championship Tournament Qualifying Match: Rubix vs. Sonjay Dutt
They tie up and Rubix shoots Dutt off the ropes. Rubix connects with a dropkick and gets a two count on the cover. Dutt connects with a back elbow and a hurricanrana. Dutt gets caught and gets slammed to the mat by Rubix. Rubix dives onto Dutt on the outside. Rubix dives from the top rope, but Dutt catches him with a dropkick. Rubix charges Dutt in the corner, but Dutt moves and leg drops Rubix’s head on the rope. Dutt hits a splash, but Rubix kicks out at two. Rubix kicks Dutt in the head and pins him in a German suplex, but Dutt kicks out at two. Rubix goes for it again, but Dutt fights out and connects with a spinning DDT. Dutt goes to the top and hits a double foot stomp out of a moonsault for the pinfall. Winner: Sonjay Dutt. After the match, Christy Hemme asks him how it feels to be back. Dutt says he is back to win the X Division Championship and that “nobody on the corner has swagger like me.”

We see a video of Prichard, Taz, and Snow talking about the Gut Check competition as we go to commercial.

We’re back from the commercial and we see a video of Taz, Snow, and Prichard talking about last week’s Gutcheck competitor, Taeler Hendrix. They all say they are still up in the air about her and question whether they would buy a pay-per-view if she was on it.

Match #3: Bound for Glory Series Match: Bully Ray vs. Samoa Joe
Ray gets into Joe’s face and Joe backs him into the corner where Ray cowers in the ropes. Joe goes for a tie up, but Ray backs into the ropes again. Joe wrenches Ray’s arm, but Ray reverses and does the same to Joe. Joe goes behind Ray and applies a headlock. Ray shoots Joe off and they hit each other with shoulder blocks, but neither goes down. Ray takes Joe down with a back elbow and then works on his arm. Joe comes back and connects with some right hands, but Ray rakes Joe’s eyes to break it up. Ray suplexes Joe down and hits a headbutt as we go to a commercial. We’re back from the commercial and Joe is controlling the match. He kicks Ray in the head and runs off the ropes, but Ray takes him down with a big clothesline. Ray slaps Joe’s chest and Joe comes back with some forearm shivers. Both men hit a clothesline simultaneously and Ray gets a cover, but Joe kicks out at two. Ray slams Joe down to the mat and works on his arm. Ray wrenches Joe’s arm and uses the ropes for leverage. Ray continues to work on Joe’s arm as they go to the outside. Joe gets in a little offense, but Ray slams his arm into the steps. Ray goes for the splash out of the corner, but Joe moves and connects with some jabs on Ray. Ray hits a back elbow, but Joe comes back with an inverted atomic drop, a big boot, and a splash and goes for the cover, but Ray kicks out at two. Joe connects with more jabs, but Ray takes him down with a slam that gets a two count. Ray goes to the middle rope and jumps off, but Joe moves out of the way. Ray rolls to the outside and Joe charges, but Ray moves and takes Joe down with a big boot. Joseph Park comes out from the back and gets Ray’s attention. He slaps Ray across the face and Joe applies the rear-naked choke and Ray taps out. Winner and recipient of fen points: Samoa Joe. After the match, Park grabs a mic and says he knows who Ray is, but asks if Ray knows who he is. He says he is Joseph Park, and Ray is a jack-ass bully. Park says he was bullied all of his life, but it ends tonight. Park says this is no longer about Abyss, it is about he and Ray. Park says in two weeks, they will fight again.

We go backstage and see Claire and Dixie again. They answer more questions about the picture of A.J. and Dixie and of them going to the hotel room to see Claire. Dixie brings up the phone conversation and says it was doctored from a birthday party invite to what we heard.

We see Kazarian in Hogan’s office. Kazarian says everything was Daniels’ fault and says he doesn’t want to team with him anymore. Hogan doesn’t believe him and tells him that he has to team with Daniels tonight. Hogan tells Kazarian to prove it to him tonight. Kazarian leaves Hogan’s office as we go to a commercial.

We’re back from the commercial and we see Madison Rayne and Garett Bischoff backstage. She says she has a crush and she asks Garett, “What’s he like?” and then whispers the name in his ear. He smirks and walks away.

We stay backstage and Brooke Hogan says she got Miss Tessmacher an ad with Direct Auto. Gail walks up and says none of the other Knockouts measure up to her. Brooke gets in her face and says that Gail’s rematch is next week.

Match #4: TNA X Division Championship Tournament Qualifying Match: Mason Andrews vs. Rashad Cameron
Cameron chops Andrews and charges, but Andrews takes him down. Cameron comes back with a jaw breaker, but Andrews back drops him over the top rope. Andrews dives over the top rope and takes Cameron down. Andrews goes for the pin, but Cameron kicks out at two. Cameron dropkicks Andrews, but only gets a two count. Cameron takes Andrews down with a knee to the midsection and drapes him over the top rope. Cameron goes up top and goes for a moonsault, but Andrews moves. Andrews takes Cameron down and hits a knee lift and a cross body for a two count. Andrews foes for another cross body, but Cameron moves and connects with a dropkick and then dives on Andrews on the outside. Cameron goes for the pin, but Andrews kicks out. Cameron goes up top, but Andrews takes him down with a body scissors. Andrews takes Cameron up, but Cameron kicks Andrews into the corner. Cameron drops Andrews on his head and gets the pin fall. Winner: Rashad Cameron. After the match, Cameron says that everyone has just seen the beginning of the Rashad Cameron Movement and says it’s Philly 215 all day.

We see Taeler Hendrix backstage. The Gut Check judging is next.

We’re back and James Storm  and Jeff Hardy are in Hogan’s office. They bring up Sting and Hogan says he’s good, but not good enough. Hogan says the main event next week will be Storm vs. Hardy.

We go into the arena and Jeremy Borash, Taz, Al Snow, and Bruce Prichard are in the ring. Borash introduces Taeler Hendrix and she comes out to the ring. All three men say they are ready to vote and Taeler says she is here to shine and is hungry for success. Taz votes yes. Snow is about to vote, but Joey Ryan interrupts and Taz and Snow go to the crowd to confront him. Snow says he knows she has tons or potential, but she’s not ready and votes no. Prichard is up next, but Taeler gets 30 seconds to tell him why she deserves the chance. She says she wants to fight and will show how hard she has worked to get to where she is. Prichard votes yes.

We see Kurt Angle and A.J. Styles backstage. Angle says the old A.J. is back and that they are going to go out there and retain the titles. A.J. announces he has Daniels in a Falls Count Anywhere Match at Destination X.

Match #5: TNA World Tag Team Championship Match: A.J. Styles and Kurt Angle (c) vs. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian
Styles takes Kazarian down and kicks him in the back. Styles takes him to the corner and tags in Angle. They take him down with a double shoulder block. Kazarian hits Angle with a jaw breaker and tags in Daniels, but Angle takes him down with a hip toss. Angle charges Daniels in the corner, but Daniels gets his boots up and takes Angle down. Daniels tags in Kazarian, but then tags himself back in. Angle backdrops Daniels and hits a T-bone suplex. Styles takes Daniels down on the outside and drapes him on the ring apron. Styles slams Daniels into the barricade and Daniels and Kazarian argue on the outside as we go to commercial. We’re back from the commercial and Daniels and Styles are still the legal men. Daniels hits an STO on Styles, but only gets a two count. Daniels slams Styles down and goes for a moonsault, but Styles gets his knees up. Styles tags in Angle and Angle brings in Kazarian and controls the match. Kazarian gets a boot up, but Angle hits a belly-t0-belly suplex and then begins the German suplexes. Angle German suplxes Daniels and Kazarian takes advantage. Kazarian goes for the Fade to Black, but Angle rolls through to the Ankle Lock. Kazarian gets out but Styles takes advantage. He and Daniels fight in the ring and hit a cross body on each other. Styles takes Kazarian down with a clothesline and Daniels takes Styles down. The referee and Angle get knocked to the outside by Daniels. Daniels goes to the outside and grabs a chair. He goes to swing it at Styles, but Kazarian takes it away and Styles hits the Pele kick. Kazarian tells Styles to finish Daniels, but hits Styles with the chair when his back is turned. Kazarian grabs the ref and tosses him into the ring to make the count for the pin fall. Winners and new TNA World Tag Team Champions: Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. After the match, Daniels says Claire told the truth, but not the whole truth. He says Claire’s baby that she is pregnant with is A.J. Styles’. Dixie is shocked and Daniels laughs at A.J. as Impact comes to a close.
