~ Wagner Prado (8-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is the newest member of the UFC light-heavyweight roster. Prado brings an undefeated resume to the octagon with six of his eight wins coming in the first round. A member of Team Nogueira, he has been a regular on the Brazilian MMA scene
~ UFC lightweight veteran Drew “Night Rider” Fickett (42-18) suffered a loss on Saturday night at the O’Reilly Family Event Center in Springfield, Missouri at ShoFight 20. Fickett was beaten by Jonathan Novaes (10-4) via TKO (Punches) in just 51 seconds of the 1st round. Fickett is 1-5 in his last 6 bouts.
~ UFC/PRIDE middleweight veteran Denis Kang was victorious on Saturday in Seoul, South Korea. Kang defeated Hae Suk Son via a 1st Round Knockout (Punches) in the co-main event of Road Fighting Championship 8. Kang broke a 3 fight losing streak to improve to 35-15-2.
~ Former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Rafael Cavalcante, who was recently suspended for one year and fined $2500 for failing a post-fight drug test, will also have his recent win over Mike Kyle changed to a “no contest.” Feijao,” who submitted “MAK” last month on the main card of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Final event on Showtime, tested positive for stanozolol metabolites according to commissioner George Dodd of the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).
~ A heavyweight clash between Stefan Struve (24-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) and Stipe Miocic (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has been tapped the headliner for UFC on FUEL TV 5. The event takes place Sept. 29 at Capital FM Arena, a 10,000-seat venue in Nottingham, England. Both Herman and Miocic headline a UFC card for the first time. Struve & Miocic fought & won at both UFC on FUEL TV 1 and UFC 146.
