Jun 13, 2012 - by Alex Peredo
~ This past Friday’s four-fight “UFC on FX 3: Johnson vs. McCall” main-card broadcast, which was the third UFC main card to air on the FOX-owned FX, averaged 1.1 million viewers. UFC on FX 3 took place at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. With January’s UFC on FX 1 event drawing 1.3 million viewers, the UFC on FX 3 ratings now represents the smallest total audience in the short history of the series.
~ Joey “The Mexicutioner” Beltran (14-7 MMA, 3-4 UFC) is returning to the UFC, and he’ll return as a light heavyweight. Beltran makes a quick return to the UFC following a January release. Beltran reinvented himself as a 205-pounder at an April C3 Fights event, earning a decision win over Anton Talamante. He’ll now look to build on that momentum in his return to the UFC.
~ Welterweight Rick Story (13-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) will face newcomer Brock Jardine (9-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) on the prelims at UFC on FX 4: Maynard vs. Guida. UFC on FX 4 takes place June 22 at Revel Atlantic City in New Jersey. This is Story’s 3rd scheduled opponent after Rich Attonito & Papy Abedi were injured during training.
~ While next month’s “UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II” event takes place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, the previous day’s weigh-ins will take place at the nearby Mandalay Bay Events Center. UFC officials recently announced the location of the weigh-ins, which coincide with the UFC Fan Expo that takes place July 6-7 at Mandalay Bay Events Center. UFC 148 takes place July 7, with the weigh-ins taking the day prior.
~ Welterweights Jason High (15-3 MMA, 2-0 SF) vs. Nate Moore (8-2 MMA, 2-1 SF) in a prelim bout is set for the next Strikeforce event. “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy,” takes place July 14 at Rose Garden in Portland, Ore. High has fought for DREAM & the UFC.
