TNA Slammiversary meet and greet a “disappointment”

Reported by Adam Martin of

The meet and greet in Arlington last night for TNA’s Slammiversary PPV weekend was described as a disappointment according to The Wrestling Observer. The meet and greet was advertised as running from 7:00-9:00 p.m., but attendance was described as “weak” and almost all of the fans were gone by 8:00. Some fans showed up late only to find no one around according to this same report. It was described as a more intimate event with wrestlers taking time to talk with everyone given the low attendance.

the tna wrestlers are good its the dumb ass management that can’t pull it together, and its just plain sad.

  2. Captain Ass says:

And reasonable, smart people would be surprised about this why…..?

The wrestlers are fine. The company is what sucks.

  3. cenanation says:

All you marks hate tna, but cry when wwe gives you 3 hours of crap!

  4. Deathedge says:

All you TNA marks need to know that insulting WWE marks isn’t going to help us watch your beloved product. ^_^

  5. -J- says:

    tna sheep can’t read apparently.

  6. AJ Square says:

I’m smarter and more knowledgeable than all of you marks and I am also a better wrestler than all you marks as well.

  7. Long John Cena says:

Argh me markies! Say it proud TNA SUX and lets follow our leader Vinnie Macc off ‘dat dere cliff!

  8. Stone Dawg says:

What are we talking here? 40 people, 30 people, 20 people? Less? For almost everyone to be cleared by 8pm (one hour), the numbers must have been really low.

TNA needs to stop pretending they are the equal of WWE, realize their true position (glorified regional promotion with ‘money mark’ backing and TV), and build from there.

  9. MoneyInTheBank187 says:

Probably none of the top wrestlers were present.. so people left.

  10. echo says:

Or maybe attendance was low because there’s a crap economy and people couldn’t afford the tickets for the event, fan fest, souvenirs, food at the the arena, etc. There’s a lot of possible reasons for a poor turnout.

  11. Jon says:

or maybe, people didn’t care about the fan fest. OR the more plausible reason, TNA didnt promote it? I’ll tell you this, Im in Canada and i rarely to never watch spike tv but when i do, i dont see one commercial promoting TNA, i see commercials promoting UFC and MMA and even WWE but never have i seen a commercial promoting TNA or Impact on spike tv.

TNA’s main problem right now, outside of guys like hogan and bischoff who ran wcw into the ground, people can say Russo did but it wasnt just russo, it was a combination of things…. is nobody knows they exist. TNA caters to the “smart marks” and reality is, the “smart marks” make up a very small percentage of wrestling fans.

  12. Jon says:

Perhaps a name change to something simple like PWA “Pro Wrestling Alternative” would help TNA, however they try to be too much like WWE to be an alternative to it so i doubt that would even help. TNA needs to be TNA and not try to be like the big bad publically traded almost billion dollar WWE. Fans who are sick of and getting sick of WWE want an alternative to it, not WWE lite.

  13. Jon says:

and i supppose the reality of a TNA fan fest is… well, why would i pay money to go see AJ Styles or Whoever when more than likely in 2 or 3 months they will be appearing for one of the local wrestling shows anyways and doing the same thing. This is what TNA’s reality is. In Winnipeg, where i live, we have a very big promotion that brings in lots of ex WWE stars (TONS OF THEM), lots of former and even current TNA stars, ROH stars, etc. Big Big named guys from the past and present even. I guess why would i go pay TNA’s ridiculous prices when i can wait a month or 2 and go see the same guys for 5 bucks at the local community center or bar?

  14. Jon says:

People can laugh but having a picture taken with guys like Honky Tonk Man,Jake Roberts,Ted Dibiase,Billy Gunn,Road Dogg, even guys like Colt Cabana and Lanny Poffo, Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, Etc.. Sid Vicious, etc.. They mean more to me, a guy in my mid 20’s even than having pics of guys like Crimson and AJ Styles (as much i enjoy his work), AJ,Crimson.. I’ll be honest, i wouldnt trade my autographed pic of Molly Holly or Trish Stratus or even THE Honky Tonk man for one with them. These people i mentioned are “legends”. AJ and the TNA gang are,well.. let’s be honest here and its not ripping on TNA but to the average fan,THE non internet wrestling fan, They are guys who couldnt make it to the WWE.
