Detailed 5/11/12 WWE Smackdown Recap

-Smackdown opens up with highlights of the tag team match with Alberto Del Rio and Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton and Sheamus from this past Monday on Raw. There is no opening video this week and we go straight into the arena.

-Match #1: Alberto Del Rio and Chris Jericho (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. Randy Orton and Sheamus
Jericho and Orton start the match with a tie-up and Jericho backs Orton into the corner and connects with some right hands. Orton reverses and goes the same to Jericho and then hits a clothesline out of the corner. Orton slaps Sheamus on his injured arm and tags him in. Sheamus hits Jericho with a back elbow off the ropes and then tags Orton back in. Orton controls Jericho, but Jericho escapes and tags in Del Rio. Orton hits a hip toss on Del Rio and goes for a knee drop, but Del Rio moves and hits Orton with an arm breaker. Del Rio goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Del Rio goes to work on Orton’s arm, but Orton powers out and tags in Sheamus. Sheamus takes Del Rio into the corner and pummels him and then hits the plunge and goes for the cover, but Del Rio kicks out at two. Sheamus goes to run off the ropes, but Jericho pulls the top rope down and Sheamus goes to the floor, where Jericho kicks his arm. Del Rio tags in Jericho and Jericho goes to work on Sheamus’ arm. Sheamus tags in Orton, who connects with some clotheslines and a power slam on Jericho. Orton hits Jericho with his second rope DDT and goes for the RKO, but Jericho reverses. Orton comes right back with a standing drop kick and goes for the cover, but Del Rio breaks up the count at two. Sheamus comes into the ring and attacks Del Rio and the four men brawl in the ring. Result: Double disqualification. Sheamus clotheslines Jericho over the top rope and Orton clotheslines Del Rio over the barricade as referees try to separate them.

-We come back from the break and we hear that Orton will go one-on-one with Del Rio later tonight and Sheamus will face Jericho later tonight.

-Match #2: A.J. vs. Kaitlyn
A.J. takes Kaitlyn down and the scrap on the mat. A.J. takes out Kaitlyn’s knee and then hits a running knee to Kaitlyn’s head for the pin fall. Winner: A.J.After the match, A.J. keeps pummeling on Kaitlyn and then Daniel Bryan comes to the ring. Bryan says he is impressed. He says he had no idea that A.J. could be so ruthless. Bryan says there has been so much tension between them since WrestleMania and says that after he becomes the new WWE Champion at Over the Limit he is looking forward to moving on. That is, moving on to Kaitlyn. Bryan laughs and A.J. looks like she is going to slap him, but she leaves the ring as Bryan does his “YES!” chant with the crowd.

-Match #3: Daniel Bryan vs. The Big Show
Show takes Bryan to every corner of the ring and punches him in the midsection twice and chops him twice. Show tosses Bryan into the corner and charges, but Bryan gets a boot up. Bryan takes Show down to one knee and goes for a dropkick, but Show catches him and chops him down to the mat. Show squashes Bryan in the corner and goes for the Spear, but Bryan takes Show’s knee out and Show goes down. Bryan applies the YES! Lock and the bell immediately rings. We see John Laurinaitis get up from the time keepers area and he announces Daniel Bryan as the winner via submission. After the match, Laurinaitis asks Show if he thinks mocking him is funny. Laurinaitis makes Show say, “No sir.” Laurinaitis threatens Show’s job and says Show will publicly apologize this Monday on Raw and that he better mean it. Laurinaitis says he will beat John Cena in nine nights at Over the Limit and shake the WWE to its foundation.

-We are reminded that Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio will go one-on-one later tonight.

-Match #4: Heath Slater vs. Ryback
Slater says Ryback looks like a caveman with a pea brain. He says Ryback hasn’t beaten anybody the caliber of himself. Slater gets in Ryback’s face before Ryback shoves him to the mat. Slater gets some offense in and even takes Ryback down to one knee before Ryback takes control. Ryback drives his shoulders into Slater in the corner and then hits a power slam. Ryback hits a monstrous clothesline and hits his muscle buster finisher for the pin fall. Winner: Ryback.

-We are reminded that Sheamus and Chris Jericho will go one-on-one later tonight.

-Teddy Long is announced as the special guest ring announcer for the next match.

-Match #5: Alex Riley vs. Antonio Cesaro (w/Aksana)
Cesaro takes Riley down and then delivers a head-butt which sends Riley into the corner. Cesaro hits a big boot in the corner and goes for the cover, but Riley kicks out at two. Cesaro puts Riley in a headlock but Riley powers out. Riley goes for a dropkick but Cesaro hangs on to the ropes. Cesaro hits a gut-wrench suplex and kicks Riley in the back. Cesaro applies a submission but Riley powers out and hits a big clothesline coming off the ropes. Riley goes for a spine buster, but Cesaro grabs his ear and escapes. Cesaro hits his finisher for the pin fall. Winner: Antonio Cesaro. Aksana grabs a mic and tells Teddy that are just friends and that Antonio is her lover.

-We see a video package showing John Cena and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

-We see Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio walking backstage. Their match is next.

-Match #6: Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs. Randy Orton
Del Rio backs Orton into the corner, but Orton reverses and slams Del Rio’s head into the turnbuckle. Orton connects with some right hands, but Del Rio reverses and takes Orton to the opposite corner. Del Rio stomps away on Orton in the corner. Del Rio backs away and charges at Orton, but Orton moves and Del Rio goes to the mat. Orton stomps on Del Rio and catapults his throat into the bottom rope and goes for the cover, but Del Rio kicks out at two. Del Rio goes to the outside and drapes Orton’s arm over the top rope. Del Rio comes back in and kicks Orton in the back and goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Del Rio stretches Orton’s arm over the middle rope before the referee makes him break the hold. Del Rio does and Ricardo drapes Orton’s arm over the middle rope behind the referee’s back. Del Rio goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Del Rio slams Orton to the mat and goes for another cover, but Orton kicks out at two again. Del Rio works on Orton’s arm, but Orton powers out. Orton hits a couple of clotheslines and a big power slam. Del Rio reverses Orton and connects with a kick to his head and goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Del Rio stomps on Orton’s shoulder and goes for another kick, but Orton catches him and delivers a neck breaker. Orton goes for the cover, but Del Rio kicks out at two. Del Rio kicks Orton in the arm and then connects with an arm breaker. Del Rio goes for the cross arm breaker submission, but Orton reverses and shoves Del Rio into the corner. Orton hits his second rope DDT and sets up for the RKO. Ricardo gets on the top rope and jumps off, but Orton catches him with an RKO as the referee calls for the bell. Winner via disqualification: Randy Orton. After the match, Del Rio tosses Orton into the ring post and then applies the cross arm breaker submission before the referees break them apart.

-We are reminded again that Sheamus and Chris Jericho will go one-on-one later tonight.

-Match #7: Jack Swagger (w/Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero) vs. R-Truth (w/Kofi Kington and Lil’ Jimmy)
The match starts with a tie-up and Swagger takes Truth into the corner. Swagger connects with some elbows and a right hand before the referee pulls him away. Swagger charges at Truth in the opposite corner, but Truth goes over the top of Swagger and hits him with a hip toss. Truth hits a leg drop and goes for the cover, but Swagger kicks out at one. We see A.W., Epico, Primo, Rosa Mendes and Mason Ryan watching the match from backstage. Swagger hits a back slam on Truth and goes for the cover, but Truth kicks out at one. Swagger keeps the offense going, but Truth eventually reverses and connects with a DDT. Swagger charges at Truth in the corner, but Truth moves and hits Swagger with two clotheslines and rolls him up for a two count. Truth hits his corkscrew elbow on Swagger and goes for the cover, but Ziggler pulls him out of the ring. Kofi jumps off the steel steps onto Ziggler and takes him down as Swagger takes Truth down on the outside. Swagger tosses Truth back into the ring and Truth hits Swagger while he is still in the ropes. The referee pulls Truth away and Kofi hits Swagger with Trouble in Paradise. Truth hits his face buster finisher for the pin fall. Winner: R-Truth.

-We see that John Cena and John Laurinaitis will have a face meeting this coming Monday night on Raw.

-Match #8: Darren Young and Titus O’Neil vs. Santino Marella and Zack Ryder
The match starts with Marella and O’Neil. O’Neil takes Marella down with a shoulder block and slams him to the mat before he tags in Young. Young hits Marella with a neck breaker and keeps the offense rolling. Young tags in O’Neil and they hit a double team move on Marella. O’Neil tags Young back in and Young hits a leg drop. Young puts Marella in a headlock but Marella powers out and tags in Ryder. Ryder comes in and takes Young down and knocks O’Neil off the apron. He connects with the Broski Boot to Young and goes for the cover, but Young kicks out at two. Ryder goes for the Rough Ryder, but O’Neil trips him up. Marella goes around the ring with the cobra ready to strike, but he gets take down. Ryder takes down O’Neil and Young and tosses Young back into the ring. Young drops Ryder from the top rope and tags in O’Neil and O’Neil and Young hit the Ghetto Blaster on Ryder. O’Neil pins Ryder for the victory. Winners: Titus O’Neil and Darren Young. After the match, O’Neil tells Lilian Garcia to announce them as the winners again. O’Neil proclaims them as the winners and says they are the next WWE Tag Team Champions. They say the difference between them and the other tag teams is “millions of dollars” and they do some sort of dance to go along with their chant.

-We go backstage to see Matt Striker interviewing Damien Sandow. Striker asks Sandow if there is any insight as to why he chose not to wrestle in his scheduled match last week. He says there is no one that the masses can look up to except for him and says that he will expose all of the false prophets. You’re welcome.

-We are reminded again that the main event will be Sheamus vs. Chris Jericho.

-Match #9: Brodus Clay (w/Cameron and Naomi) vs. Hunico (w/Camacho)
Camacho and Hunico attack Clay before the match begins. The referee asks Brodus if he wants him to ring the bell and he laughs and says yes. Brodus immediately hits Hunico with his head-butt and pummels him in the corner. Brodus hits a back back body drop on Hunico and knocks Camacho off the apron with a head-butt. Brodus tosses Hunico over his head and hits his big splash for the pin fall. Winner: Brodus Clay.

-We see one more time that Sheamus and Chris Jericho is the main event tonight and we see that we will get an update on Brock Lesnar and Triple H next.

-We see footage from two weeks ago when Brock Lesnar took Triple H out and the footage of Paul Heyman reading Lesnar’s statement this past Monday on Raw. We are reminded that Triple H will be on Raw this coming Monday night.

-Match #10: Chris Jericho vs. Sheamus
The match starts as a slug fest which neither man gaining control. Sheamus charges at Jericho in the corner, but Jericho gets a boot up. Jericho takes control and charges at Sheamus in the corner, but Sheamus moves and Jericho hits the ring post. Sheamus hits Jericho with his vintage 10 clubs and shoulder blocks Jericho into the barricade. Back from the break, we see Sheamus launch himself over the top rope into the ring and he hits Jericho with his shoulder tackle. Sheamus goes for the cover, but Jericho kicks out at two. Sheamus tries to suplex Jericho over the top rope, but Jericho drapes Sheamus’ arm over the top rope and kicks him from the top rope down to the floor. Jericho goes out after Sheamus and tosses him into the ring post. Both men get back into the ring and Jericho continues to work on Sheamus’ arm. Sheamus powers out, but Jericho connects with a standing dropkick. Jericho goes for the Lionsault, but Sheamus moves and Jericho lands on his feet. Sheamus hits a couple of clubbing blows, drives his shoulder into Jericho’s midsection, and hits a running knee lift. Jericho goes for the Walls of Jericho, but Sheamus powers out. Jericho connects with a few elbows and applies the Walls. Sheamus reaches the ropes and Jericho breaks the hold. Jericho charges at Sheamus, but Sheamus sends him over the top rope. Alberto Del Rio comes out and slams Jericho into the steps and the referee calls for the bell. Winner via disqualification: Chris Jericho. After the match, Del Rio gets in the ring and applies the cross arm breaker submission on Sheamus. Randy Orton runs out and attacks Del Rio. Sheamus and Orton argue about who is going to beat Del Rio. Jericho hits the Code Breaker on Del Rio and rolls out of the ring. Orton hits Del Rio with an RKO. Sheamus finishes Del Rio off with a Brogue Kick. Orton and Sheamus stare each other down as the show comes to a close.
