~ Last Friday, UFC/Bellator/Strikeforce veteran Shamar Bailey (13-7) lost his 2nd straight bout as he was TKO’d (Punches) at 2:30 into Round 1 by Lucas Pimenta Borges. The event UFW: Tournament of Warriors held in Corpus Christi, TX, featured this bout as part of a 8-man lightweight tournament. This was Bailey’s 3rd fight of the year.
~ Prior to the official Bellator 68 weigh-ins, the organization hosts a free seminar with Bellator fighters Eddie Alvarez and Kurt Pellegrino. The Thursday event is free and open to fans, and it includes Q&A, autograph and photograph sessions. The seminar and weigh-ins take place at Caesars Atlantic City (across from the Caesars Box Office) in New Jersey. In addition to the meet and greet, fans can get hands-on tips from Alvarez and Pellegrino during the seminar and demonstration, which begins at 2:30 p.m. ET and run until 4 p.m. ET.
~ Prior to the “UFC on FUEL TV 3: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier” weigh-ins, nine-time UFC veteran Aaron Simpson (11-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) hosts a special Q&A session. Both events are free and open to the public. Doors open for members the UFC Fight Club, the UFC’s official fan club, at 1:30 p.m. ET. That’s a five-minute headstart over the general public, which is allowed in at 1:35 p.m. ET. Simpson hits the stage at 2 p.m.
~ Rich Attonito (10-5 MMA, 3-2 UFC) will not meet fellow welterweight Rick Story (13-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) at next month’s UFC on FX 4 event because he has suffered an injury. UFC on FX 4 takes place June 22 at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J. Story will get a new opponent.
~ One Fighting Championship has confirmed their 4th event for Saturday, June 23, at the Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. One FC 4: Destiny of Warriors is the title of the event.
