~ This past weekend’s episode of “The Ultimate Fighter” was the lowest-rated in the series’ seven-year history. Ratings for the eighth episode of “The Ultimate Fighter: Live” resulted in average of just 929,000 viewers on FX. The episode featured a guest visit from Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.
~ UFC Hall of Famer Dan “The Beast” Severn returned to MMA on Saturday at the RiverCenter in Davenport, Iowa. Severn defeated Alex Rozman via unanimous decision in the main event of Blueblood MMA: Fight Legends of the Quad Cities. Severn (101-19-7) hadn’t fought since MAy 20, 2011, is a former WWE wrestler, & IS 53 YEARS OLD.
~ UFC veteran James “Sledge” Hammortree suffered a loss last Saturday in Ocala, Florida at Real Fighting Championships 26. Hammortree suffered a quick 33 second submission to Aaron Johnson in the co-main event. Hammortree (6-3) appeared on the 11th season of The Ultimate Fighter.
~ Karl Amoussou (14-4-2 MMA, 2-1 BFC) and David Rickels (10-0 MMA, 2-0 BFC) will meet in a season-six welterweight-tournament-semifinal fight at Bellator 69. Bellator 69 takes place May 18 at L’Auberge du Lac Casino Resort in Lake Charles, La., and the main card airs on MTV2.
~ The Texas-based Legacy Fighting Championship organization has signed Brazilian female flyweight Carina Damm (17-6). Recently, the Strikeforce/BodogFIGHT veteran has picked up a pair of first-round submission victories on Brazil’s regional circuit. her brother Rodrigo Damm, is also a fighter who has competed in Strikeforce.
