4/27/12 WWE Friday Night Smackdown Recap‏

-We see the Smackdown opening video and Michael Cole welcomes us to the show from Grand Rapids, Michigan. We see that Mark Henry and Sheamus will go one-on-one tonight.

-We see a replay of Brock Lesnar’s attack on Josh Mathews from this past Monday on Raw and are informed that we will take a look back at the confrontation between Lesnar and John Cena from Raw as well.

-Daniel Bryan makes his way out to the ring. He says the 18-second loss to Sheamus at WrestleMania does not count. He says Sheamus is running around with his Championship. He says he will rectify that at Extreme Rules when he beats Sheamus twice. He said he called the match between Mark Henry and Sheamus on Raw right down the middle. We see the replay of Bryan quick-counting Sheamus. We see another replay of Sheamus attacking Bryan, but Bryan taking advantage and putting Sheamus in the YES! Lock. Bryan says he will regain his World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules. Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez make their way out to the ring. Del Rio says Bryan has been making excuses and that he is the next World Heavyweight Champion. Ricardo chants, “Si! Si! Si!” The Big Show comes out. Show says he is confused. He asked is it “YES!” or is it “Si!” Show goes to punch Bryan and Del Rio, but they both get out of the ring. He goes to punch Ricardo, but stops and tells him to calm down. He asked Ricardo if it’s “Yes!” or “Si!” Ricardo says. “No!” Show says, “Si!” and chokeslams Ricardo.

-Match #1: Alberto Del Rio vs. The Big Show
Show slaps Del Rio’s chest in the corner and then clubs him in the back. Del Rio comes back and kicks Show in the knee. Del Rio charges at Show, but Show hits him with a big shoulder tackle. Del Rio drapes Show’s arm over the top rope as we learn that the stipulation for Show’s match with Cody Rhodes at Extreme Rules will be determined by a spin of the wheel. Del Rio takes Show down and continues to work on his arm. Del Rio goes for the cross arm breaker, but Show counters and back slams Del Rio to the mat. Show hits Del Rio with a couple of clotheslines and then smashes him in the corner and hits him with a big Spear. Cody Rhodes comes in and takes out Show’s knee, and Del Rio kicks Show in the head. Del Rio leaves the ring and walks up the ramp, as Rhodes grabs a kendo stick and a steel chair. Rhodes hits Show with the kendo stick, but Show is unfazed. Rhodes grabs the chair, but Show punches it out of his hand. Rhodes then takes off his belt, but Show kicks him in the face. Show rips off Cody’s shirt and slaps him on the back with the belt. Winner via disqualification: The Big Show.

-We go backstage and see John Laurinaitis and Eve Torres talking. Laurinaitis tells Eve that is she sees anything that needs to be changed on Smackdown to come to him and he will change it. She says the crew people need to wear nametags. Teddy Long walks up and asks if Eve is the executive administrator where does that leave him. Laurinaitis says Teddy is just an employee that will report to Eve. Eve tells Teddy to go get a nametag.

-We see a replay of the Divas Championship Match from this past Monday on Raw, where Nikki Bella defeated Beth Phoenix to become the new Champion.

-We see another Damien Sandow promo. He quotes Buddha and talks about the Age of Enlightenment in the 19th century. He talks about Voltaire and Sir Isaac Newton and says they set a golden standard for others. He says salvation is one week away.

-Match #2: Alicia Fox vs. Nikki Bella (w/Brie Bella)
They tie up and Nikki takes advantage with a jaw breaker. She kicks Alicia in the face and goes for the cover, but Alicia kicks out at two. Nikki chokes Alicia over the middle rope and goes for another cover, but Alicia kicks out at two again. Nikki applies a submission, but Alicia powers out. Alicia connects with a couple of dropkicks and then a back elbow from the middle rope. Nikki takes control and performs Twin Magic with Brie. Brie hits their face buster finisher and picks up the pin fall. Winner: Nikki (Brie?) Bella.

-We see that Michael Cole will have an exclusive interview with Randy Orton later tonight.

-Wee see Yoshi Tatsu backstage when Darren Young and Titus O’Neil walk up. They mock Yoshi and ask him who his partner is. Ezekiel Jackson walks up and says he is Yoshi’s partner. Young and O’Neil mock Jackson as well before walking off.

-We see Teddy Long dusting Laurinaitis’ plaque when Aksana walks in. Teddy thanks her for being there for him and she says she didn’t know he was so old when he was General Manager. Laurinaitis and Eve walk in and Johnny tells Teddy that Antonio Cesaro will have a tryout match tonight. Johnny sayd Aksana will be the guest ring announcer for the match. Eve says Teddy is taking Mathews’ place on commentary, and Johnny says Teddy will only say what he tells him to say.

-Match #3: Darren Young and Titus O’Neil vs. Ezekiel Jackson and Yoshi Tatsu
Tatsu and Young start the match and Young backs Tatsu into the corner. They exchange blows and Young eventually drapes Tatsu over the top rope. Young tags in O’Neil and O’Neil hits a big club on Tatsu’s neck. O’Neil goes for the cover, but Tatsu kicks out at one. O’Neil slams Tatsu and tags in Young. Young goes for the cover, but Tatsu kicks out at two. Tatsu fights back, but Young takes advantage again. Young takes out Jackson’s knee and tags in O’Neil. O’Neil and Young connect with their tag team finisher and O’Neil pins Yoshi for the victory. Winners: Titus O’Neil and Darren Young.

-We see that Michael Cole’s exclusive interview with Randy Orton is next.

-Randy Orton makes his way to the ring. Cole says he and Orton can conduct this interview like civilized individuals and reminds Orton that Laurinaitis said that if any Superstars attacks an announcer they will be immediately suspended. Orton says is he is pushed he tends to get a little un-rational. We see a replay of everything that has happened between Orton and Kane. Cole asks Orton how he feels about going against a monster that he created because of his failures at WrestleMania. Orton says he lost to Kane in a wrestling match, but at Extreme Rules he will make Kane suffer more than he could ever imagine. Jinder Mahal interrupts and says Orton and Kane will take each other down. He says their time at the top is over. He says he’s smarter, younger, richer, and hungrier than Orton. He says he will be waiting for Orton on the other side of Extreme Rules. Mahal goes to leave, but Orton stops him. Orton asks Mahal if he is an announcer. Mahal says no, and Orton lays him out with an RKO.

-We are reminded of the main event for tonight, which is Mark Henry vs. the World Heavyweight Champion, Sheamus.

-Match #4: Antonio Cesaro vs. Tyson Kidd
Cesaro backs Kidd into the corner and then punches him in the midsection. Cesaro kicks Kidd in the head a few times and then drags his head across the mat. Cesaro suplexes Kidd and then tosses him in the air and connects with an elbow. Cesaro hits some form of face buster finisher for the victory. Winner: Antonio Cesaro. After the match, Laurinaitis tells Long to get in the ring and raise Cesaro’s hand. Aksana and Cesaro kiss in front of Teddy.

-We see the Brock Lesnar hype video that we saw on Raw this past Monday.

-Match #5: Cody Rhodes vs. The Great Khali
Rhodes tries to work on Khali’s knee, but Khali clubs him and chops him in the corner. Rhodes chops Khali’s knee and goes to work on it. Khali powers out, but Rhodes connects with a missile dropkick from the top rope. Rhodes goes for the cover, but Khali powers out at two. Rhodes goes back to work on Khali’s knee. Khali powers out and connects with a couple of clotheslines. He sets Rhodes up for the Punjabi Plunge, but Rhodes kicks him in the knee. Rhodes goes for the Disaster Kick, but Khali counters and connects with the Punjabi Plunge for the pin fall. Winner: The Great Khali.

-We see Epico, Primo, Rosa Mendes, and Abraham Washington backstage. He says it’s a travesty that they weren’t on WrestleMania and that they’re not on Extreme Rules. He says he wants to manage them and needs a decision by Monday. Ryback walks up and A.W. tries to talk to him, but he walks away.

-We see The Usos backstage watching the monitor for the next match. The man in the ring grabs the mic like Ryback’s past few opponents have. He gets a little longer time to talk than the past few and he says he will beat Ryback.

-Match #6: Jacob Kaye vs. Ryback
Kaye charges at Ryback, but Ryback shoves him halfway across the ring. Ryback connects with a big boot. Ryback hits Kay with a big power slam and then a big clothesline. He hits Kaye with his Muscle Buster finisher for the pin fall. Winner: Ryback.

-We see a replay of what happened on last week’s Smackdown between A.J. and Daniel Bryan. We see A.J. walking backstage when Matt Striker walks up and wants a few words. She says no, but he leeps pressuring her. Kaitlyn walks up Kaitlyn tries to explain to A.J. everything that was wrong with Daniel Bryan, but A.J. slaps her across the face.

-Match #7: Mark Henry vs. Sheamus
The match starts with a tie up and Henry powers Sheamus down to the mat. Henry backs Sheamus into the corner and connects with a punch to the midsection and a head-butt. Sheamus gets a little offense in, but Henry counters with a big clothesline. Sheamus takes out Henry’s knee and connects with an arm breaker. Sheamus goes for the cover, but Henry kicks out at two. Henry shoves Sheamus over the top rope and goes to the outside after him. Henry brings Sheamus back into the ring, but Sheamus rolls to the apron. Sheamus launches himself over the top rope and hits Henry with a shoulder tackler. Sheamus goes for the cover, but Henry kicks out at two. Henry slams Sheamus to the mat and goes for a big splash, but Sheamus moves out of the way. Sheamus attempts his vintage 10 clubs over the top rope, but Henry powers out after five. Henry tosses Sheamus to the outside and throws him into the barricade. Henry tosses Sheamus back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Henry connects with a head-butt and applies a submission hold. Sheamus powers out, but Henry keeps the momentum in his favor. Henry hits a big clothesline and goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Henry pounds on Sheamus in the corner and connects with another head-butt. Henry applies a submission hold and Sheamus powers out. Sheamus hits Henry with three double axe handles and Henry goes down. Sheamus hits Henry with a DDT and goes for the cover, but Henry kicks out at two. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick, but Henry counters with a clothesline and goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Sheamus goes to the tope rope and jumps at Henry, but Henry moves. Sheamus gets right back up and Henry turns around into the Brogue Kick which gives Sheamus the pin fall. Winner: Sheamus. After the match, Daniel Bryan comes out to the stage and claps for Sheamus. Sheamus grabs a mic and asks Bryan is he’s afraid that he will kick his head off in 18 seconds again. Sheamus asks if he will kick Bryan’s arse and remain the World Heavyweight Champion at Extreme Rules, to which he leads the crowd in chanting “YES YES YES” and Bryan is shaking his head no as Smackdown comes to a close.
