~ UFC/WEC lightweight veteran Kit Cope improved to 5-7 on Friday with a Submission win at Wreck MMA 9: Road To Glory. Cope defeated Jeff Harrison with an Armbar at 2:12 into Round 1. The event was held at the Casino Du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. Cope snapped a 3 fight losing streak.
~ Saturday’s “UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans” event drew a reported 15,545 attendees to Atlanta’s Philips Arena and generated a live gate of $2.2 million. UFC president Dana White revealed the figures at the evening’s post-event press conference. UFC 145 marked the company’s first trip to Georgia since UFC 88 in September 2008. The number of complimentary tickets issued for the sold-out show was not revealed, but the reported figures indicate the UFC generated an average revenue of $141.52 per ticket issued.
~ This Thursday, Strikeforce light-heavyweight veteran Marcos Rogerio de Lima (8-1) will face Carlos Eduardo (8-2) at the Hebrew Social and Sports Club in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The bout is at Shooto – Brazil 29. de Lima suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Mike Kyle at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov last September. .
~ An undisclosed injury has forced bantamweight Johnny Bedford (18-9-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) to withdraw from a scheduled matchup with Nick Denis (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC on FOX 3. UFC on FOX 3 takes place May 5 at IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
~ Former Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe “The Hammer” Soto (10-2) faces WEC bantamweight veteran Chad “Savage” George (14-6) at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, California. TPF 13: Unfinished Business is set for May 10. The featherweight bout is the main event. George has won 3 straight bouts.
