John Olav Einemo announced earlier this month that he was ending his mixed martial arts career and retiring from active competition. The 36-year-old Oslo Norway native had competed in the sport dating back to the year 2000. The former heavyweight fighter is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and was apart of team Golden Glory. With his debut going back 12-years, Einemo’s total years fighting were six with him having runs from 2000-2003, in 2006 and from 2011-2012.
Einemo entered mixed martial arts with 5-straight victories competing in the Shooto organization among others. After an extended break he returned to the sport in 2006 where he had a pair of fights in the Pride Fighting Championship. After another extended break he returned to M.M.A. in the middle of last year signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. After losing two fights in the company’s stacked heavyweight division he was released by the organization. Einemo’s career mixed martial arts record stands at 6-wins, 3-losses.
