4/10/12 WWE Super Smackdown Recap‏

-Smackdown opens this week with the same “Blast to the Past” video that we have seen for the past week or so, and then we get the normal opening video.

-We see a video showing what happened last week between Daniel Bryan and A.J, and are told that Bryan will be a guest on Piper’s Pit.

-“Mean” Gene Okerlund is in the ring and he introduces Sheamus. Sheamus says it’s an honor to be in the ring with Gene. Sheamus says he let everyone down when he attacked the referee last week and says he is issuing an apology to everyone and to all referees around the world. John Laurinaitis comes out and interrupts Sheamus. Laurinaitis plays the footage from last week when Sheamus attacked the referee. Johnny tells Sheamus to apologize again because he didn’t hear it. Sheamus does as he is told. Johnny then tells Sheamus to apologize to all the referees again, because he didn’t hear it. Sheamus does, and once again Johnny tells Sheamus to apologize to the world. Sheamus does, and Johnny says he is on permanent probation and says that if Sheamus touches a referee, by accident or on purpose, he is fired. He says Sheamus is fined $500,000. Johnny also places Sheamus in a tag team match with Mean Gene as his partner against Daniel Bryan and Alberto Del Rio.

-We see Randy Orton backstage and “Cowboy” Bob Orton walks up and wishes him luck against Mark Henry tonight.

-Match #1: Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton
The match begins with a tie-up, and Henry tosses Orton in the corner. Orton fights back, and pounds on Henry in the opposite corner. Henry takes Orton down to the mat. Orton comes back with some right hands, and takes him to the corner. Henry slams Orton to the mat, and goes for the pin, but Orton kicks out at two. We see Bob Orton watching backstage before we go to commercial. Back from commercial and Orton is powering out of Henry’s submission hold, but Henry sends him back to the mat. Henry goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Henry cranks Orton’s neck again, and Orton punches his way out. The two men trade blows before Henry slams Orton again. Henry hits a big splash and goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two again. Henry drives his shoulder into Orton in the corner and then hits two corner splashes. Orton goes down and Henry goes for the cover again, but Orton gets out at two. Henry goes for another splash, but Orton moves out of the way. Henry charges Orton in the corner, but Orton gets his boot up. Orton hits some clotheslines and eventually a DDT to take Henry down. Orton goes for the cover, but Henry kicks out at two. Orton sets Henry up for his second-rope DDT, but Henry reverses and attempts the World’s Strongest Slam. Orton reverses that and tries an RKO, but Henry shoves him out of the ring. Orton shoves Henry into the ring post twice and Henry goes down to the floor. Kane’s music hits and he is on the Titan Tron. Kane says he won at WrestleMania to prove he was whole again, but Orton proved he was just as bit as evil as Kane last week on Smackdown. Kane says he knows how to have fun that the whole family can enjoy and crouches down over Bob Orton and Randy runs to the back. We see Randy in the back looking for Kane and Kane attacks him with a steel pipe. Kane says he’s a sucker for family reunions and walks away. Match result: No Contest

-We see Ted DiBiase and Tony Atlas backstage. Tony Atlas says, “We’re gonna see a good ol’ fashioned squash match.” Benny Cramer is the man in the ring, and he attempts to say some words before Ryback interrupts him. Hillbilly Jim and Pat Patterson join DiBiase and Atlas in the back.

-Match #2: Benny Cramer vs. Ryback
Ryback hits Benny with a big clothesline. He picks him up and hits him with a big back drop finisher for the win. Winner: Ryback

-We see Heath Slater and Tyson Kidd backstage. Slater says that doors will open if they beat the Usos tonight. Slater says he found them a Hall of Fame manager, and it turns out to be “The Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart.

-Mick Foley comes out and joins the commentary team.

-Match #3: Heath Slater and Tyson Kidd (w/Jimmy Hart) vs. The Usos
Kidd starts the match with Jey. They exchange faux-hip tosses. Jey goes for a roll up, but Slater had tagged in. Slater hits a neck breaker and goes for the cover, but only gets a two count. Foley gets up and gets Socko. Jimmy Hart scurries through the ring. The Usos hit their finisher on Slater for the win. Winners: The Usos. After the match, Foley put the Mandible Claw on Jimmy and stole his megaphone.

-We see a preview for the main event tonight, which is Alberto Del Rio and Daniel Bryan going against “Mean” Gene Okerlund and Sheamus. We also see that Piper’s Pit with Daniel Bryan is next.

-Roddy Piper comes out. He says he misses the fans and then begins talking about Daniel Bryan. He talks about how Bryan lost the World Heavyweight Championship in 18 seconds. Piper shows the footage of Bryan dumping A.J. on last week’s show. Piper unenthusiastically introduces Daniel Bryan. The crowd starts the “YES! YES! YES!” chants. Piper says he seems happy for a man who lost the World Heavyweight Championship in 18 seconds. D-Bry says he just had a meeting with John Laurinaitis, and he granted him his rematch for the title. The crowd starts an “18 seconds” chant. Bryan says Sheamus will not be able to fluke his way to a win in the rematch. He says he wants to pin Sheamus and make him tap out. He says his match with Sheamus will take place at Extreme Rules and will be a Two Out of Three Falls Match. He also says A.J. will be nowhere to be found. Piper says A.J. is here tonight, and brings her out. A.J. thanks Roddy for bringing her out. A.J. says “hi” to Daniel, and then says he is a good person. Piper questions her. A.J. doesn’t listen to Piper, and says that it is her fault. She says she knows she made a mistake at WrestleMania and wants to make it up to Daniel. Piper says all Daniel is doing is using A.J. Bryan interrupts and says he is tired of both Piper and A.J. Daniel tells A.J. to leave the ring. Piper says don’t listen to him. A.J. leaves the ring and the crowd boos. Daniel goes to leave and Piper yells that he isn’t finished with him. Piper tells Daniel to never tell a lady to shut up, to not yell at a lady, and to not use a lady as a human shield. Piper calls Daniel a coward. Piper says he is glad that he will get to see Sheamus kick Daniel’s head off his shoulders twice at Extreme Rules. Daniel says the fact that he is better than Sheamus will smack everyone, including Piper, right across the face. Daniel slaps Piper across the face and leaves the ring screaming, “YES, YES, YES!”

-We see another preview for the main event tag team match tonight.

-Match #4: Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match: The Great Khali, Alicia Fox, and Natalya vs. The Bella Twins and Drew McIntyre
The match starts off with Khali and McIntyre in the ring. They tie up and Khali tosses McIntyre down. McIntyre tags in one of the Bellas. McIntyre says “I’m better than this” and walks out. Alicia Fox comes in and flips Nikki over and gets the win for her team. Winners: Alicia Fox, Natalya, and The Great Khali. After the match, Mae Young comes out and dances with Khali, Natalya, and Alicia. She then kicks Khali’s knee and kisses him.

-We see another preview for the tag team main event tonight.

-We get another Damien Sandow promo. He gives us the definition for sophistication. He downplays social media sites and says our brains are over run with things like that. He says he is here to save us from that, and says we’re welcome. By the way, Damien Sandown’s Twitter handle was displayed throughout his promo. Ironic.

-We go back to Monday Night Raw and it focuses on Brock Lesnar and John Cena.

-We go backstage and Sheamus and Gene are getting ready for their match. Gene says he doesn’t like their chances and Sheamus says they’re probably not going to win. Sheamus says no matter what happens, he’s happy. Sheamus says if they survive tonight, the first drink is on him.

-Match #5: “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan vs. Hunico
Hacksaw pounds Hunico with some rights and lefts and Hunico goes to the outside and talks with Camacho. Sgt. Slaughter comes out and yells at Hunico and Camacho. Slaughter tosses Hacksaw’s 4×4 into the ring and he hits Hunico with it. The referee calls for the bell. Slaughter applies the Cobra Clutch on Hunico after the match. Winner by disqualification: Hunico

-We see yet another preview for the tag team main event tonight.

-Cody Rhodes comes out. He says we need to turn our attention to the future, where he will once again be the Intercontinental Champion, a future where legends don’t hog the spotlight. He is interrupted by his father, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Cody says this doesn’t concern his father, but Dusty says it does. Dusty says all Cody did was poke a grizzly bear when he messed with The Big Show. Cody says Dusty is embarrassing him. Cody goes to leave, but Show comes out. Show says that he is going to show us the “real” Cody Rhodes. We see a video of Cody Rhodes’ old dashing tips. Show says that was embarrassing and walked away. Cody leaves the ring as Dusty’s music plays.

-We see Sheamus and “Mean” Gene walking backstage. The main event is next.

-Match #6: Alberto Del Rio and Daniel Bryan vs. “Mean” Gene Okerlund and Sheamus
Alberto and Sheamus start out the match and exchange blows. Sheamus hits a back elbow and Alberto and sends him down. Alberto tags in Bryan and Bryan goes to work on Sheamus. Bryan kicks Sheamus in the corner and tags in Alberto. They stomp Sheamus and Alberto grabs him and applies a headlock. Sheamus punches Alberto and back drops him to the mat. Bryan comes back in and kicks Sheamus, but Sheamus comes back with a big kick. Sheamus dumps Alberto over the top rope and attempts a Brogue Kick on Bryan, but Byran sends him to the outside. Gene gets in the ring and Bryan, Sheamus, and Ricardo surround him. Roddy Piper, Ted DiBiase, Hillbilly Jim, Pat Petterson, Tony Atlas, Ted DiBiase, and Jim Duggan, come out and surround the ring. Sheamus gets back in the ring and nails Bryan with a Brogue Kick for the win. Winners: “Mean” Gene Okerlund and Sheamus. After the match, Howard Finkel runs to the ring, and all the legends hit Ricardo Rodriguez with their finishers. The legends celebrate with Sheamus and Gene in the ring, and Michael Cole interrupts and insults them. Cole gets tossed out of the ring and they celebrate again as Smackdown comes to a close.
