~ UFC lightweight veteran Antonio “Mandingo” McKee, 42, improved to 3-0 since his UFC release by beating Chad Dietmeyer (8-2) via unanimous decision last Friday. The bout headlined EWFC “The Untamed 2” in Anaheim, Calif. McKee, who’s 14-1 in his last 15 bouts, improves to 28-4-2.
~ Lightweight Dakota Cochrane competed in a real MMA fight on Friday in Kearney, Nebraska at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 2. However, just like 3 weeks ago during The Ultimate Fighter Live episode, Cochrane was defeated, this time via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 4:39 into Round 1 by Cliff Wright. Cochrane’s record falls to 11-3.
~ UFC/DREAM/Strikeforce lightweight veteran Drew “Night Rider” Fickett broke a 4 fight losing streak on Saturday with a submission (Guillotine Choke) win over Kevin Knabjian. The bout was on the main card of Worldwide MMA Sports 1, held in El Paso, Tx. Fickett improves to 42-17 with his 28th career submisson win. He went 4-3 in the UFC from 2005-2007.
~ The road back to the UFC for Patrick “The Predator” Cote continues going strong as Cote was victorious for the 4th time since his UFC release last Saturday in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. Cote defeated Gustavo Machado via nasty KO (Punches) at 2:44 into Round 1. It was at the Amazon Forest Combat 2 event. Cote (17-7) challenged for the UFC Middleweight Title in 2009 & holds a UFC record of 4-7.
~ UFC/PRIDE heavyweight veteran Soa “The Hulk” Palelei (15-3) will look to continue his 5 fight winning streak next Saturday as he faces Joe “Doc” Kielur (3-0). The bout is for the inaugural Heavyweight Championship for Australia Fighting Championship, which hosts its 3rd event in Melbourne, Australia. Palelei suffered a TKO loss in his only UFC appearance at UFC 79.
