Staff Wrestlemania predictions – CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho

The Starman: Jericho has been gold in his verbal personal attacks on Punk and his family. Punk will get his revenge in this match and retain the WWE Championship. This has a good chance to be the match of the night in my opinion – possibly match of the year.

Dave Kilgore: I think Jericho has gotten into Punk’s head. Punk will be all out for vengeance while Y2J methodically takes him apart. Winner and new champ, Y2J. This could steal the show as a better match than Rock/Cena.

Michael Ripa: If this match ends up opening the show as the rumors have been stating, it could very easily end up being the best worked match of the night. Both men have cut tremendous promos on the other in recent weeks, with Jericho getting the upper-hand in that category, in my opinion. I see this match going anywhere from just under 20 minutes to upwards of 25 to 30 minutes. In the end, I believe CM Punk will retain the WWE Championship via pinfall.
Prediction: CM Punk

Steven Matthews: This feud had very little going for it until Jericho cut that promo on CM Punk’s father. Since then Jericho has taken jabs at other members of Punk’s family and on Monday, Punk had finally heard enough. Punk’s beatdown of Christian, which set him up to miss WrestleMania was something this match needed. Punk has been a sarcastic and laid back Superstar but this has now brought out a very aggressive and fresh version of Punk. Instead of the technical masterpiece that many would expect these two to have, I see this match starting off as a brawl more than anything else. Punk and Jericho may have one of the best matches of the night and I think Punk retains the WWE Title yet again. As a matter of fact, I think Punk has the best chance as anyone to hold the WWE Title for one full year. Punk beats Jericho at WrestleMania but the feud between the two won’t end on Sunday.

Amanda Chamers: As much as I hate to say it, being the Punk mark that I am, I think the belt goes to Jericho. They’ve built up his return to grand proportions and everybody loves a reigning heel champ. Punk’s had the belt for a while and the WWE can’t seem to hold a champ for too long, they get bored or something. I do think the match will be quite good and probably a very near thing, but I think Jericho will find some way to cheat and get the win. I’d like to see a nice long feud between the two of them; they’re both excellent characters.

Cody A. Springer: CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho
This match will be the best of the night, imo. This one doesn’t really have too definite an answer, but as “angry” as Punk is, and as hot as Punk is right now, I see no reason to take the belt off of him yet. There’s a chance for a no contest so they can carry it over to Extreme Rules in Punk’s hometown, but for right now I’m going to say Punk.
Prediction: CM Punk

To be honest, I see this ending in submission or DQ, with CM Punk either making Y2J tap or not breaking a hold.
