3/30/12 WWE Friday Night Smackdown Recap‏

-The Smackdown opening video plays, and Josh Mathews welcomes us to the show. Matt Striker is joining him on commentary tonight.

-Match #1: Drew McIntyre vs. Zack Ryder
The match starts with a tie-up, but McIntyre quickly dumps Ryder to the mat. They tie up again, and McIntyre catches Ryder with an elbow, but Ryder eventually gets a roll up for a two count. McIntyre kicks Ryder in the gut, and then takes him down to the mat with some clubbing blows. Ryder hits a beautiful dropkick on McIntyre and, after some back and forth running, drops McIntyre with a flapjack. Ruder hits McIntyre a few times in the corner, but McIntyre gains the upper hand with a takedown. McIntyre goes for the cover, but Ryder kicks out at two. McIntyre applies a submission and Ryder powers out. McIntyre hits a gut buster on Ryder and goes for the cover, but Ryder kicks out at two. McIntyre stomps Ryder in the corner and then in the middle of the ring. McIntyre applies the submission again and Ryder powers out again. McIntyre knees Ryder in the stomach, and takes him down with a kick to the face. McIntyre comes off the middle rope, but Ryder gets his feet up for the reversal. Ryder catches McIntyre with an elbow and goes on the offensive. Ryder hits McIntyre in the corner and then connects with the Broski Boot. Ryder goes for the cover, but McIntyre kicks out at two. McIntyre hits Ryder with a big boot and goes for the cover, but Ryder kicks out at two. Ryder hits the Rough Ryder for the victory. Winner: Zack Ryder

-We see a preview for Chris Jericho vs. Kofi Kingston, which takes place later tonight. We are also informed that an overview of the Hell in a Cell Match between The Undertaker and Triple H will be coming up next.

-We see a video promo for Lord Tensai.

-Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler join us from Miami, and they show us “Undertaker’s Graveyard” where there is a tombstone for every WrestleMania in which The Undertaker has been victorious. They show us a make-shift stage where people can make their own entrance. They talk about the Hell in a Cell Match, and we see a video package that shows the history of both The Undertaker and Triple H. The video package transcends into the current feud with the buildup from recent weeks on Raw.

-We see another preview for Jericho vs. Kingston before the commercial break.

-Lawler sends thanks to Madonna for “Girl Gone Wild,” which is the newest theme song for WrestleMania. Lawler and Cole show us more features at Axxess, including the title belts and all of the t-shirts. We see a recap of how the Divas Tag Team Match between Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres vs. Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos became official for WrestleMania, when Beth and Eve interrupted Kelly’s interview with Maria on Extra.

-Cole says we will take a look at CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho next.

-Lawler and Cole show more Axxess events, including the autograph signings with the Superstars. They show highlights from the online charity art auction from last night. They then go into talking about the WWE Championship Match at WrestleMania between CM Punk and Chris Jericho. The video package has CM Punk stating he is the best in the world, and the “End of the World” promos for Jericho’s return. It continues into the recent weeks of Jericho talking about Punk’s family and closes with each saying they are the best in the world.

-Cole says we will get a look at the 12-Man Tag Team Match after the commercial break.

-Cole and Lawler begin talking about the Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny match this Sunday. Lawler waves the Team Teddy flag, and Cole waves the Team Johnny flag. We are shown a review of what happened this past Monday on Raw, which included Cole saying he was Team Johnny’s official commentator, David Otunga vs. Santino Marella, The Miz attacking Santino and gaining a spot on Team Johnny, Christian getting beat down by CM Punk and subsequently being removed from Team Johnny, Christian being replaced with Drew McIntyre, and Booker T saving Teddy Long from Mark Henry and being added to Team Teddy.

-Lawler says we will head back to the arena and hear from The Big Show next.

-The Big Show comes out and says he is fortunate to have competed against some of the greatest Superstars in the history, and won the World title in his first match. The Big Show says he has never had a WrestleMania moment. Show repeats everything that Cody Rhodes has said about him over the past few weeks. Show says that Rhodes will be chokeslammed at WrestleMania, and says Rhodes’ career will be broken. Show says he will have his WrestleMania moment this Sunday.

-Before the commercial break, we see Chris Jericho walking backstage.

-Lawler and Cole show us more things at Axxess, main focused on things that are Cena-related. They preview the World Heavyweight Championship Match between Daniel Bryan and Sheamus. We see a video package of the history between the two, including of all the match types that Bryan has retained the title in, and Sheamus issuing the challenge for WrestleMania.

-We see another preview for Jericho vs. Kingston for tonight.

-We see Edge’s Hall of Fame video and Cole and Lawler talk about the Hall of Fame Ceremony.

-We see a video from WWE.com where various WWE Legend and Superstars talk about the Hell in a Cell Match between The Undertaker and Triple H.

-Cole says Chris Jericho vs. Kofi Kingston is next.

-Match #2: Chris Jericho vs. Kofi Kingston
They tie up and Jericho goes behind Kofi, but Kofi reverses and take Jericho to the ropes. Jericho gets Kofi in a headlock, but Kofi sends Jericho off the ropes and Jericho lays Kofi out with a shoulder block. Kofi gets on the offensive with a back elbow and then dumps Jericho to the outside. Kofi tosses Jericho back into the ring, but Jericho drapes Kofi over the top rope as we head to commercial. Jericho takes Kofi and slams his head into the exposed steel barrier and then tosses him back into the ring. Jericho puts Kofi in a headlock, but Kofi fights out and rolls Jericho up for a two count. Jericho attempts a cover of his own, and Kofi kicks out at two. Jericho chokes Kofi over the middle rope three times, and runs at him on the ropes, but Kofi moves out of the way. Kofi hits Jericho with a clothesline and a swinging pin attempts, but only gets a two count. Kofi hits another clothesline and then the Boom Drop. Kofi goes for the Trouble in Paradise, but Jericho reverses into the Walls of Jericho but Kofi escapes. Kofi hits a cross body and gets a two count. Kofi kicks Jericho in the stomach, but Jericho comes right back with an elbow. Jericho attempts the Lionsault, but Kofi gets his knees up and goes for the Trouble in Paradise again. Jericho reverses into the Walls of Jericho again, and Kofi taps out. Winner: Chris Jericho

-Coming up next is a replay of the final face-to-face confrontation between John Cena and The Rock from this past Monday’s Raw.

-Lawler and Cole show us a Money in the Bank setup where fans can climb a ladder and grab the briefcase. They transition into telling about the John Cena vs. The Rock main event for Sunday and we see a video from Raw of the final confrontation before Mania between Cena and The Rock.
