~ UFC Featherweight Mackens Semerzier (6-4, 1 No-Contest) has been released by the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion after going 1-1 (1 NC) in the Octagon. “Mack Da Menace” has won just one of his last six bouts.
~ UFC welterweight veteran Peter Sobotta, 25, secured a win on Saturday with an 80 second submission (Rear Naked Choke) win over Marius Panin. The bout occurred at Eurogames MMA Sports first-ever event, held in Sala Polivalenta, Iasi, Romania. This was Sobotta’s first win since September 13, 2008 & he improves to 9-4-1. Sobotta went 0-3 in the UFC.
~ Strikeforce/Bellator middleweight veteran Zak Cummings improved to 15-3 with a submission (Guillotine Choke) victory over Brandon Newsome at 2:33 of the first round. The bout occurred in Springfield, Missouri on Saturday at Slay Marketing 4. Cummings has won 2 bouts in a span of 30 days.
~ WEC bantamweight veteran Danny Martinez won his 3rd fight in a row at Xplode Fight Series “Disarm” in Valley Center, Calif. “The Gremlin” defeated Rich Bonafidini via TKO (Punches) at 2:33 of the 1st round in a flyweight title bout last Saturday. Martinez is 16-4 & his last 2 losses came to top flyweight Jussier da Silva and Joe Benavidez.
~ While India’s Super Fight League is not legally required to follow the orders of the California State Athletic Commission, promotion officials have decided to do exactly that. SFL officials will respect the CSAC-ordered medical suspension of UFC veteran Gabe Ruediger (17-8). Ruediger therefore has been pulled from a planned SFL 2 matchup with UFC vet Paul Kelly (12-4). Super Fight League 2 takes place April 7 in Chandigarh, India.
