~ Last Sunday, UFC/PRIDE/DREAM middleweight veteran Ikuhisa Minowa secured another MMA victory by defeated jobber or can, Shigeki Tsuchiya. Minowa defeated Tsuchiya via submission (Kimura) in just 76 seconds at Gladiator 30. Minowa’s record is now 53-33-8 while Tsuchiya is 1-6 after starting his career with 5 straight losses.
~ Former King of the Cage Welterweight Champion & UFC veteran Michael “The Joker” Guymon made a successful lightweight debut on Friday in Commerce, California. Guymon defeated Cris Leyva via TKO (Punches) at 4:10 into the 2nd round in the main event of “BAMMA USA – Badbeat 5.” Guymon returned from a 14 month retirement. Guymon (13-5-1) went 1-3 during a 4 fight stint in the UFC.
~ UFC light-heavyweight veteran Goran Reljic (9-3) returns to MMA action this Saturday in Geneva, Switzerland in the main event of Strength & Honor Championship 5. Reljic faces Rogent Lloret (11-3-1). Reljic went 1-3 in his UFC run but all of his losses were by decision. He’s fought once in the last 16 months due to a serious back injury & he turns 28 tomorrow.
~ UFC welterweight veteran Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis (20-9) will return to action on Saturday, March 31st in Salem, New Hampshire. He headlines the inaugural Century Fighting Championship show against Matt Lee (14-10-1). Davis is 3-1 since his UFC release in January 2011. Davis went 9-6 in 2 stints with the UFC.
~ UFC light-heavyweight veteran Rodney “Shonuff The Master” Wallace (11-4) will face Derrick Mehmen (12-3) on March 31st at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. The bout is for the inaugural Worldwide Mixed Martial Arts (WMMA) event, which airs on the Armed Forces Network. Wallace lost all 3 of his bouts in the UFC via unanimous decision.
