~ Wednesday’s airing of “I Am Bruce Lee” shattered a Spike TV ratings record for documentaries. The 2-hour featured presentation averaged a healthy 1.0 household rating and 1.4 million viewers on the cable station. The well-reviewed documentary focuses on the legendary Bruce Lee, a cultural icon and seminal figure in the history of martial arts. The previous record was held by “Facing Ali,” a film on boxing legend Muhammad Ali that drew 860,000 Spike TV viewers in 2009.
~ UFC lightweight veteran Rob “The Saint” Emerson won last night in Lemoore, California. Emerson submitted (Rear Naked Choke) Savant Young at 4:29 into Round 3. The catchweight bout occurred at Tachi Palace Fights 12 – Second Coming. Emerson (11-10, 1 No-Contest) appeared on the 5th season of The Ultimate Fighter.
~ UFC heavyweight veteran Sean “Big Sexy” McCorkle won his 6th straight bout last night at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. McCorkle submitted (neck crank) Richard White in 62 seconds. The super-heavyweight bout was held at Bellator 60. Since his UFC release after losing on March 26, McCorkle has won all his fights to improve to 16-2.
~ DREAM veteran Tatsuya “Crusher” Kawajiri (30-7-2) vs. Bellator vet Donald Sanchez (24-12) has been announced by both promotions (DREAM and One FC) for their “One FC: War of the Lions” event on March 31st. Sanchez is a former Bantamweight Champion for the King of the Cage promotion. The featherweight bout will be held on the main card.
