~ Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki 18 was held on Saturday in Plock, Poland & featured a lightweight battle between WEC/UFC veteran Maciej Jewtuszko & The Ultimate Fighter 9 participant Dean Amasinger. Jewtuszko won via TKO (Punches) at 3:39 into Round 1. Jewtuszko improved to 8-2 while Amasinger’s record fell to 9-5.
~ Unhappy with his longtime management company and MMA team, Siyar Bahadurzada (20-4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is leaving Golden Glory. The UFC welterweight cited pay and contract issues for his decision. “They didn’t pay me my money for the Glory World Series that I fought in May 2011, and they’re keeping me in the dark about my contract and extended the contract for another five years,” Bahadurzada said. Bahadurzada’s move comes two months prior to his UFC debut, which comes at UFC on FUEL TV 2.
~ The UFC’s first-ever flyweight bouts, set for this Friday, could each potentially go four rounds now that the promotion has instituted a “sudden victory” round in the case of a tie. An additional round will not be scheduled for the finals, which will utilize a five-round format to crown the UFC’s first-ever 125-pound champion.
~ Fans are invited to a press conference next week that kicks off the promotional push for May’s UFC on FOX 3 event. The presser takes place March 6 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and includes many fighters from the card. UFC on FOX 3 takes place May 5 at nearby IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J. Doors to the press conference open at 10:30 a.m. ET (7:30 a.m. PT), and event begins at 11 a.m. ET.
~ Following a recent Cage Warriors 46 main-event victory, ProElite veteran Andreas Kraniotakes (13-5) will now fight recent Bellator competitor Mike Hayes (16-4-1) for the organization’s vacant heavyweight title. The event, Cage Warriors Fight Night 4, takes place March 16 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
