~ Former heavyweight D.J. Linderman (10-2) apparently rushed his move to middleweight. The Bellator vet and 185-pound hopeful came in 10 pounds over weight for his Legacy Fighting Championships 10 headliner, and original opponent UFC veteran Gerald Harris (19-4) now will fight Eric Davila (20-11) in the co-headliner on Friday night.
~ UFC/PRIDE heavyweight veteran Soa “The Hulk” Palelei has now won 5 straight after a TKO (Punches) win over Shunsuke Inuoe (12-7) on Friday in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The bout was part of Cage Fighting Championship (Australia) 20. Palelei, 34, is now 15-3. He lost his only UFC bout at UFC 79.
~ Official fighter weigh-ins for next month’s “UFC on FX 2: Alves vs. Kampmann” event take place Friday, March 2, at Allphones Arena in Sydney’s Olympic Park. Doors open to the general public at 11:30 a.m. AEDT (7:30 p.m. ET, Thursday, March 1), and the first fighter is on the scale at 2 p.m. AEDT.
~ The UFC has finally signed top light-heavyweight free agent Glover Teixeira. The 32-year-old newcomer Teixeira (17-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC), a 10-year pro, enters the UFC with a 15-fight and six-year win streak. Among his 17 career wins, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and grappling champion owns 11 knockouts and four submissions.
~ Spartan Fighting Championship’s SFC 13 will take place April 6 at Big Sandy Superstore Arena. “The Arrival” is the first MMA production scheduled in Huntington, West Virginia. Jersey Shore star & TNA participant Ronnie will be the special guest for the show. Fans who purchase VIP tickets will have the opportunity to meet Ronnie at a pre-fight autograph signing and post-fight after-party to be held in Big Sandy’s ball room. Strikeforce fighter Jorge Gurgel will have fighters from his gym competing on the card.
