~ A middleweight bout between promotional newcomers Buddy Roberts (11-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Sean Loeffler (25-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC) was a late scratch from UFC on FUEL TV 1 event. Loeffler suffered an ankle injury during his warm-up for the fight and wasn’t cleared to compete. The card continued with only 9 bouts.
~ A preliminary lightweight bout between Caros Fodor (7-1 MMA, 5-0 SF) and Pat Healy (26-16 MMA, 4-1 SF) has been added to March’s “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey” event.
The main card airs on Showtime, and prelims air on Showtime Extreme.
~ A super-heavyweight headliner between PRIDE veterans Bob Sapp (11-10) and James Thompson (16-14) is set for March 11 at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai, India. Super Fight League, Indian’s first pro MMA organization, will promote the card.
~ All eight fighters who underwent drug testing at this past month’s UFC 142 event tested clean for performance-enhancing drugs and recreational/drugs of abuse. Both headliners and six other randomly chosen fighters were tested. The randomly chosen fighters weren’t disclosed. All tested negative for drugs of abuse (such as marijuana and cocaine), as well as anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancers.
