~ Less than one week before the biggest fight of his budding career, featherweight prospect Doo Ho Choi (8-1) has reportedly gone missing. Japanese promotion Deep announced Tuesday that the 20-year-old South Korean has not been seen or heard from since Friday, Feb. 10. A brief release offered scant details, but stated that Deep officials contacted local authorities to report Choi as a missing person, citing concerns over his safety. Choi was scheduled to vie for the vacant Deep featherweight title against Kazunori Yokota at this Saturday’s “57 Impact.”
~ An undisclosed injury has forced UFC veteran Mike Kyle (19-8-1 MMA, 3-3-1 SF) to withdraw from a co-headliner at “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey.” “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey” takes place March 3 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. It’s the second time an injury has scrapped a matchup with former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champ Gegard Mousasi (32-3-2 MMA, 3-1-1 SF).
~ Debut promotion Super Fight League is heading to YouTube to reach fight fans. The upstart India-based promotion announced a three-year exclusive deal that will put all of its live event streams on YouTube. The first event is slated for March 11 at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai. SFL bills itself as Indian’s first pro MMA organization.
~ A welterweight title clash between Nathan Coy (10-4) and Ryan McGillivray (12-5) will highlight the May 4 Maximum Fighting Championships card. Emanating from the Mayfield Conference Centre in Edmonton, MFC 33 “Collision Course” will air on HDNet. McGillivray lost at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale last June to Shamar Bailey.
