~ Top-ranked middleweight Michael Bisping (22-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) is no longer a member of Wolfslair MMA Academy. Bisping recently took on Chael Sonnen at UFC on FOX 2 and suffered a unanimous decision loss. Recently, Bisping relocated to Huntington Beach, Calif., and trained with UFC vet Tiki Ghosn and standout wrestler Brady Fink.
~ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (20-6) announced his split from longtime manager and interpreter Eduardo Alonso. Alonso has been instrumental in “Shogun’s” contract negotiations with the UFC and is often seen in his corner during fights. The two still remain friends.
~ Legends of Fighting 51 – Little Giants occurred on Friday in Indianapolis, Indiana & UFC middleweight veteran Chris Price competed in the main event. However, he was submitted (Punches) by ProElite veteran Ray Lopez 52 seconds into the 2nd Round. Lopez is a heavyweight. Price’s 4 fight winning streak was snapped. He’s now 19-4.
~ UFC/WEC welterweight veteran Tommy Speer lost at Saturday’s Cage Warriors Fight Night 3 event in Beirut, Lebanon. Speer (19-6) was beaten by Matt Nilsson (8-1-1) via submission (Arm-Triangle) at 4:17 into Round 2. Speer’s 4 fight winning streak was snapped.
~ A UFC 145 press conference occurs Thursday at Ventanas in the city’s Luckie Marietta District. The event begins at 1 p.m. ET, and doors open to the public one hour earlier. Tickets for “UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans” go on sale to the general public Friday, Feb. 17, and range from $50 to $400. A pre-sale period begins on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
