~ The first ever Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe “The Hammer” Soto improved to 10-2 on Friday with a win in Porterville, California. Soto submitted (Rear Naked Choke) Chris David at 4:28 in the 2nd round of the main event of ‘The Warriors Cage 13 – Impact.’ Soto broke a 2 fight losing streak.
~ The full list of suspensions past weekend’s UFC on FOX 2 event included:
Phil Davis: Suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days
Chris Weidman: Suspended 30 days with no contact for 21 days
John Olav-Einemo: Suspended 30 days with no contact for 21 days
Nik Lentz: Suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days
George Roop: Suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days
Joey Beltran: Suspended 60 days with no contact for 45 days
Dustin Jacoby: Suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days
Chris Camozzi: Suspended 30 days with no contact for 21 days
~ DREAM/DEEP/Sengoku lightweight veteran Eiji Mitsuoka (18-7-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has signed with the UFC. The 36-year-old Mitsuoka holds early career victories over UFC vets Gerald Strebendt, Gleison Tibau and Anthony Macias, as well as former DREAM champ Joachim Hansen. He’s 11-3 in the last 5 years.
~ UFC officials recently announced that UFC 143′s preliminary bouts of Dan Stittgen vs. Stephen Thompson and Rafael Natal vs. Michael Kuiper will stream via Facebook. The Facebook stream now complements the evening’s pay-per-view and FX broadcasts. Featuring an interim welterweight title fight between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit UFC 143 takes place Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
~ UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann (14-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) was taken off administrative leave from White Bear Lake High School in White Bear Lake, Minn., after a meeting with school administrators. The school employ him as a part-time wrestling coach. Marisa Vette, director of communications for White Bear Lake High School, confirmed that Volkmann’s suspension has been lifted but could not provide details on the meeting. They’ve issued a list of “more specific” rules for his conduct in the UFC.
