Roma comments on not being included for Horsemen WWE hall of fame induction

From James Guttman:

PAUL ROMA RESPONDS TO WWE NOT INCLUDING HIM IN THE FOUR HORSEMEN HALL OF FAME INDUCTION, WWE LEAVING RANDY SAVAGE OUT OF THE HALL WHILE INDUCTING DREW CAREY, AND MORE
By WorldWrestlingInsanity.com

He’s the controversial former Horsemen who has rattled cages and spoken his mind. Now, in perhaps the most anticipated edition of ClubWWI.com’s “Glorious” to date, Paul Roma returns to speak to James Guttman in a 44 minute edition that covers everything including How WWE Tried To Play Him And Ric Flair/Arn Anderson Against Each Other When Interviewing For The Horsemen DVD, Why Flair Was Against Roma in The Horsemen, How WCW Pitched Roma To Him, Disrespect For Other Incarnations of The Horsemen, What Paul Did For The Group That He Doesn’t Get Credited For, The Bond He Doesn’t Have With Ric Flair, Bruno Sammartino Not Being In The WWE Hall of Fame, Randy Savage Not Being In The WWE Hall of Fame, Drew Carey Being In The WWE Hall of Fame, JG’s Ten Unforgettable Jobbers Article on WorldWrestlingInsanity.com, Paul’s Memory of Some Names, The Wrestler Who Emailed JG About It, Harsh Words For WWE Divas, WWE’s “Legends House”, Haters, Dale Wolfe, Ken Patera, and More. James Guttman begins things by telling Paul Roma how he’s been the topic of choice since the Horsemen were announced as Hall of Fame inductees. Everyone wants to know his thoughts on them going in and WWE’s decision to induct a group – but only one incarnation of it. Paul starts by showing his appreciation to the fans and ClubWWI.com listeners.

“First I want to thank everybody for not forgetting and remembering that – A, I was a Horsemen. And B, why they chose me. At the end of the day, it gets down to the fact that the Horsemen were considered the elite, the best of the best and all that. When you pick just a chosen few, you’re leaving out everybody else. So what are you saying about that? They weren’t recognized? They weren’t Horsemen? Or is this Vince just being Vince and saying, ‘Oh. I get to pick and choose who I want because the Hall of Fame is Horsesh*t,’ for lack of a better term anyway. When you put Drew Carey in the wrestling hall of fame, what’s his claim to fame? Did he grease Vince’s backend or what?”

After verifying Paul meant that in the bribery sense – not in any other, Guttman agrees and says that it’s hard to take the event seriously as a Hall of Fame. Paul sees it that way too.

“How can you take it serious? They threw him in. He’s an actor. He beat nobody. Everybody that you put into WrestleMania, why don’t you put them in the Hall of Fame? Or anybody you throw in the ring, throw them in the Hall of Fame because they were on TV once. ”
James points out that inclusion of people like Drew Carey make it harder to digest those who are excluded. It’s one thing to leave out Randy Savage. It’s another to do it while finding time and space for Drew Carey. Roma, who’s spoken about working with Randy during past ClubWWI.com shows, doesn’t get it either.

“Why isn’t Savage in there? He was an icon, wasn’t he? Why not put him in or some of the other guys? I don’t get it. Listen, if you run it like the baseball Hall of Fame and you have people nominated, you vote, and you can show all that – where the voting went – it might make a little more sense. But how do you keep guys out who made you so much money and made the business what it was back in the day, like Savage?”

The show doesn’t end there. Paul Roma’s always controversial Glorious doesn’t let you down again. 1. chris says:

Is Roma really this friggin stupid. The answer is YES!

The WWE H.O.F is just like the RnR hall of fame, when it comes to a group like this, one the classic line up goes in. When Black Sabbath went into the RnR hall of Fame, it was the Butler/Iommi/Ward/Osbourne line up. Not the Iommi/Dio/Butler/Ward line up or the Iommi/Nicholls/Powell/Martin line-up, and so forth.

And how the hell dare Roma use Savage as a way to get his hurt feelings about not being in the WWE hall of Fame as a member of the 4 horsemen.
Paul Roma is a self indulged jerk, and only thinks of himself!

And if it weren’t for Guttman inviting this jack-ass in for interviews, and Steve and other websiteas reposting this nimrods “thoughts” Roma would be forgotten about!!

Paul Roma cares about no body but himself. Need proof, go ask Jim Powers about the lengths Roma would go to bury people to get himself ahead!

Paul Roma is a worthless pile of trash, and I’d enjoy the chance to tell that to him, to his face!

  2. Kerry says:

I keep forgetting that Roma was a Horseman, or that he was even a wrestler, but I agree with his feelings.

  3. TG says:

Everyone claims the HOF is a joke, yet they all petition for someone to be in it. Hmm.

  4. Deathedge says:

I’d sympathize with him more, on the Drew Carey thing that is, if it wasn’t for the fact that Drew Carey, today, would bring more people to a wrestling show then Paul would of been able to in his prime.

Face it, Paul’s a jerk off and a self centered one at that.

Just to clear all of this up, ultimatly Roma was chosen to be a Horseman but only because Tully Blanchard failed a drug test. He was in the 93 reincarnation of the Horsemen which is, by far, or atleast in my opinion, the weakest the group ever was, and it sure as heel wasn’t because of Flair and Arn. If he would of never been in the group, odds are no one would give a damn enough about him to have him do a shoot interview! The point here is, the Horseman are HOF worthy, but Paul Roma is far from it.

Also, for someone who saids it’s hard to take the WWE HOF seriously and that it’s a joke… he sure does seem awfully mad about it. Maybe it’s just me, but if I really thought something was a joke I wouldn’t be complaining about not being picked out.

  5. Deathedge says:

Oh and for the record, for those complaining about how ALL the horsemen aren’t being inducted… ok…

Benoit- We know why he isn’t getting in.

Mongo- A football player who, admittedly, did become a halfway decent wrestler, but who honestly wants him in the HOF

    Jarrett- Yeah, THAT will happen.

Charles Robinson- In the words of the Miz “Really…Really…Really?”

Face it, the only one who isn’t going in the honestly deserves it and can still get it, well, there are three actually: Ole Anderson, one of the originals, Dean Malenko, who has been a part of WWE for how long now? and, of course Brian Pillman, who has been long overdue. Sure there are a hand full of others who MIGHT get in, Luger and Sid come to mind with Sting being a definite if he was not in TNA, but ultimatly Luger and Sid were just too messed up to make it. (Though, Luger seems to be back in good graces…)

  6. Ian says:

Roma you were an unworthy Horsemen, but were in a great tag team in Pretty Wonderful and actually good there, but you belong with the likes of Steve McMichael when it comes to least worthy Horsemen EVER…I think the likes of Lex Luger, Ole Anderson, and even Sid would have a more legit reason for being pissed than you

  7. raven12516 says:

Well he’s right about Drew Carey.

  8. TG says:

But for Drew Carey, they do call it the “celebrity wing,” so I am not sure that’s a huge deal like people make it. It is what it is.

  9. mshelez says:

Drew Carey is in a special part of the HOF and there is nothing wrong with that. As for Savage, wasn’t there an interview given by Lanny Poffo after Randy Savage died which talked about this issue? And quite frankly, Vince is allowed to put in whoever he wants whether we agree with him or not. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m saying it is what it is.

  10. -J- says:

Savage should be in regardless and should have been inducted YEARS ago, but hey when you run the monopoly then you can do what you like.
