~ A light-heavyweight bout between Ryan Jimmo (16-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Karlos Vemola (8-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has been pulled from the card due to an injury sustained by Jimmo. UFC on FX 1 takes place Friday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
~ UFC bantamweight newcomer Mitch Gagnon (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is officially confirmed to face “TUF 14″ contestant Johnny Bedford (18-9-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at next week’s UFC on FOX 2. UFC on FOX 2 takes place Jan. 28 at Chicago’s United Center. The card is complete with 11 bouts.
~ A welterweight bout between Matt Brown (12-11 MMA, 5-5 UFC) and Chris Cope (5-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has been added to February’s UFC 143 event. Brown is 1-4 in his last 5 fights as both men appear to be fighting for their jobs. UFC 143 takes place Feb. 4, at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
~ UFC heavyweight veteran Mario “Sukata” Neto improved to 12-5 with a Submission (Guillotine Choke) win over Dave Keeley at 2:27 into Round 1. The bout headlined Recife Fighting Championship 5 exactly a month ago in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. All of Neto’s losses (Dan Severn, Kevin Randelman, Justin McCully, Eddie Sanchez, Stefan Struve) are to UFC veterans.
