Update on the location for Wrestlemania 29

Sent in to GERWECK.NET from

As it was reported yesterday, Triple H visited the New York Giants’ practice yesterday as they were preparing for their playoff game against the Green Bay Packers this Sunday. From a very reliable source, word coming out of the Giants organization yesterday was that Triple H was in town with WWE Officials to finalize a deal to bring WrestleMania 29 (or possibly 30) to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

MetLife Stadium has already been the location announced to host Super Bowl XLVIII in February 2014.

The stadium has seating for 82,566 fans, including 10,005 club seats and approximately 218 luxury suites. This of course, would not include floor seating.

This would mark the third WrestleMania that New Jersey has hosted, with WrestleMania 4 & 5 taking place at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, NJ.

Wrestlemania 30 will likely be at MSG, not Jersey. THey Go To MSG in Decades. Just saying…

  2. Gazz says:

Am I the only one hoping that this venue ends up being the location for WM 29 so that WWE can continue the tradition of holding the “decade” WrestleMania (30) at Madison Square Garden?

  3. mikw m says:

    @ben decades…really

  4. steve says:

i would like it to be in jersey for 29 n then 30 in msg

  5. mshelez says:

I’m good with MSG or Meadowlands. I’m less than an hour away for both so that would be freaking sweet.

  6. Coty says:

This was the case in the past and I Would like this tradition to continue but since Vince loves the Wrestlemania Stadium Shows i doubt it will ever return to MSG

  7. echo says:

If it does go to MSG, ticket prices will probably be through the roof for such a big show in such a (relatively) small venue.

  8. DRon says:

I really want WM 29 to be in North Texas. Not in the meadowlands.

  9. Fisha695 says:

Yeah because an outdoor stadium in the Northeast in Winter (ok maybe early spring but snow-wise still winter, though not year it’s 50f & raining) is a good idea….. [rolls eyes]

  10. Zack says:

Why not the Superdome down here in New Orleans? Vince would be stupid to not capitalize on the constant “party” atmosphere down here in the Big Easy.

  11. smartbus says:

They’ll be lucky to get 60 degree weather. Unless they are thinking about changing the time of year they have WM.

  12. Patrick says:

It’s hit or miss in the Northeast. Mania 14 in Boston was on March 29th, and it was 80 degrees that day.

  13. Bob says:

What About Having Mania in The United Kingdom?

The UK Hasn’t Had A PPV Since 2002 (Insurrextion And Rebellion). At The Moment We Get TV Tapings Twice A Year, But A Big PPV Like Mania At A Stadium Like Wembley Stadium which holds 90,000 Would Make The Decision A No Brainer.

  14. Pieman says:

Mania wouldn’t work in the UK for several reasons. Main ones being the fact it would have to be live, and starting at 1am is not an option.

Mania is at end of March. I have left the UK twice in the last 6 years on the way to Mania and there has been snow on the ground. It’s freakin’ cold here!

I imagine there will be similar issues with New Jersey.

  15. M. J. Wright says:

@Bob. Vince said years ago that WM would always be a North American event.
Unless MetLife stadium is getting a roof, I dont see it happening.

  16. Gazz says:

Bob, WrestleMania in the UK will never work or happen (unfortunately)

THink about it like this, I assume that a usual PPV start time is about 7/8pm US time, which equates to between midnight – 2am UK time (usual start time for Raw on a Monday night – Tuesday morning UK time).

Now if WWE were to hold a PPV here in the UK and start at around the same time (7/8pm) that would equate to (someone please correct me if I’m wrong) 4pm East US and Midday West Coast.

Add to the fact that many other sports are usually held on or around a Sunday lunchtime or many families may get together for a meal, people may forget that a PPV is taking place, therefore losing out in ratings and PPV revenue.

The only 2 ways I can see a US audience would get to watch said PPV would be either on a time delay or wait until a DVD is released, I believe both have happened in the past.

  17. Criss Brian says:

I’m right in the area, and Mania at Metlife would b AWESOME! (although not as pretty considering the surrounding scenery) but I think Metlife 29, and MSG 30 would be great. April for Metlife wouldn’t b too bad, probably 60’s at the coldest

  18. jd says:

wrestlemania 30 will not be at msg. Vince said he wants all manias in stadiums for now on but msg will get survivor series and rumble and other big events. Rumor has it because ifs on like every site that 29 will be at met life stadium in jersey ( so they have the first big event there) super bowl being the following February. Than 30 will be held in cowboys stadium. Whatever happens the WWE will make huge gates.

  19. barry says:

yea the northeast weather at time could suck but does everyone realize when mania is held outdoors there always taking a chance with the weather adn im sure that vince has a backup plan. I mean seeing mania is in florida this year what happens if it pours u think vince would stop mania. I would say no

  20. Newfie says:

WM in Jersey out side in april sometimes is not the warmest lol good luck

  21. b says:

    screw the uk
