In Memoriam

On this day in 1985, the wrestling world lost one-half of the first WWWF Tag Team Champions Tarzan Tyler aged 58. Tyler was a regular in several NWA promotions throughout the 60’s, moving to the WWWF in 1971. After winning the tag team titles, he suffered a broken back during a match with Andre The Giant, and despite being told he would never walk again, was back working as a manager for several promotions in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He was killed along with fellow wrestler Pierre ‘Mad Dog’ Lefebvre and referee Adrien Dubois in a car crash, whilst returning from a wrestling event in his native Quebec.
