~ WEC bantamweight veteran Chad “Savage” George improved to 13-6 with a KO (Punch) win over Kai Karar at 2:04 of the first round last Friday. The bout headlined The Cage 2- USA vs. New Zealand in Whakatane, New Zealand. George went 1-2 in the WEC.
~ ONE Fighting Championship hosted a press conference yesterday to reveal details about its Jakarta show. The event, which will be taking place at the BritAma Arena on February 11th, is the first professional MMA promotion to take place in Indonesia in over five years. The promotion is also going to co-promote with the DREAM organization in 2012.
~ Alexander Sarnavskiy (16-0) will remain on Friday’s Showtime-televised M-1 Challenge 30 event as he faces fellow lightweight Sergio Cortez (7-6). M-1 Challenge 30 takes place at The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif & airs on Showtime at 11 p.m. ET/PT. Cortez vs. Sarnavskiy will be part of the broadcast.
~ Tickets for Strikeforce’s next event, “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Keith Jardine,” go on sale today The event takes place Jan. 7, and a middleweight title fight between champion Luke Rockhold and UFC vet Keith Jardine headlines a loaded Showtime-televised main card. The show takes place at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Tickets range from $39 to $104 for the event
~ ESPN SportsNation has named UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones as one of eight finalists in their second-annual “Awesomest Dude Of The Year” contest, a bracket where online voting decides who moves onto the next round. Jones is the only MMA representative. Voters can vote on Facebook.
