~ UFC/Bellator welterweight veteran Ryan “The Tank Engine” Thomas defeated fellow UFC veteran John Kolosci via Submission (Reverse Triangle Choke) at 4:46 of the first round. The bout occurred on Friday in Tampa, Florida at XFC 15: Tribute. Thomas improves to 13-7 while Kolosci falls to 15-9.
~ UFC veteran Koji Oishi fought last night in Tokyo, Japan at Pancrase- Impressive Tour 13. Oishi & DREAM veteran Katsuhiko Nagata went to 3 round unanimous draw for the 2nd consecutive time. Oishi has 3 draws in his last 4 fights to move his record to 21-8-9 while Nagata is now 6-7-3. Oishi suffered a KO loss to Nick Diaz way back at UFC 53 in June 2005.
~ Last night, UFC/DREAM veteran Denis Kang lost his 3rd straight bout in Seoul, South Korea at Road Fighting Championship 5- Night Of Champions. Kang, 34, was defeated by Shungo Oyama (11-13) via TKO (Knees) at 4:30 of the first round. Both men are PRIDE veterans. Kang is now 34-15-2.
~ UFC/DREAM/Bellator veteran Rich “No Love” Clementi (42-21-1) lost on Saturday in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He lost to Chris Clements (10-4) via TKO (Punches) at 3:17 of the 3rd round. It occured at Score Fighting Series 3. This was Clementi’s 6th bout of the year.
~ John Dodson, Diego Brandao and Dennis Bermudez each earned $40,000 fight-night bonuses for their performances at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale on Saturday. Brandao won two of them. Dodson earned the night’s “Knockout of the Night” award, Brandao picked up the “Submission of the Night” bonus, and Brandao and Dennis Bermudez each earned “Fight of the Night” honors.
