~ UFC welterweight veteran Kevin “The Fire” Burns returned from a year of inactivity to headline Midwest Cage Championship 37 on Wednesday in Des Moines, Iowa. Burns submitted (Rear Naked Choke) Eddie Larrea in just 69 seconds. Burns, who went 2-3 for the UFC, is now 10-5.
~ UFC/Bellator/PRIDE middleweight veteran Jeremy “Gumby” Horn won on Wednesday when he main evented Extreme Challenge 200. Held in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Horn submitted (Rear Naked Choke) Brandon Sholten in the first round. Horn’s record is now 89-21-5.

~ Tachi Palace Fights flyweight champ Ian McCall (11-2) has been forced to withdraw from his championship bout with Josh Rave (18-8), who now awaits word on a replacement opponent. “TPF 11: Redemption” takes place Dec. 2 at Tachi Palace Casino & Resort in Lemoore, Calif. McCall is regarded as the best 125lb fighter in the world.
~ DREAM lightweight champion Shinya Aoki (29-5) will defend his title against former Sengoku titleholder Satoru Kitaoka (29-10-9) on New Year’s Eve. DREAM officials announced the matchup for “DREAM: Fight for Japan. How are you! New Year! 2011,” which takes place Dec. 31 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
