Wrestling By The Numbers: Mark ‘Bison’ Smith

It was reported late yesterday that former University Of Colorado offensive lineman and professional wrestler Mark ‘Bison’ Smith had passed away due to a massive heart attack while in Puerto Rico. The 38-year-old Denver Colorado native first debuted in the professional wrestling business in April of 1998 after having been trained by Michael Modest and Donovan Morgan. His 13-year in-ring career included impressive stints in the IWA, Pro Wrestling NOAH and Ring Of Honor Wrestling.

His largest success came while apart of the IWA organization in Puerto Rico where he had multiple stints with the company. While there he became a main event performer and was a former 2-Time IWA World Champion. He also started competing with the Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling NOAH in 2005 and had become a regular with the organization over the last 6-years. His biggest North American exposure was with Ring Of Honor Wrestling where he first debuted in 2009 and is remembered for a memorable feud with Bryan Danielson.
