UFC Primetime: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos pre-event special rating

~ Sunday’s well-received “UFC Primetime: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos” pre-event special earned a 1.3 household rating and averaged two million viewers. The one-hour special, which was the first significant UFC programming on the FOX network, scored a 0.98 rating among men 18-49 and a 0.99 among men 18-34. That means many of the viewers came from demographics that traditionally do poorly with UFC programming.

    If one positive can be taken from this, it’s that some people from outside UFC’s main demo (M18-49) watched the show.

    That said, getting 2 million viewers sandwiched between programs getting 15-20 mill… not too great.

    To be fair they weren’t sandwiched between programs getting 15 to 20 million in every market. Where I live it wasn’t even on Fox but another local channel and I actually missed the show because they had no banner saying, “UFC Primetime can be seen on…” From what I’ve read this was happening all over the country, so I don’t think this rating is very fair. When the actual event airs and gets 2 million THEN it’ll be a bad sign.
