Preliminary PPV buys for TNA’s Bound for Glory

The Wrestling Observer reports that the Preliminary estimates on the TNA Bound for Glory PPV are ranging between 20,000 and 25,000 buys. Last year’s show did 35,000 to 40,000.

This year’s Bound for Glory was headlined by Hulk Hogan vs. Sting and Kurt Angle defending the TNA championship against Bobby Roode.

Hmmm… I guess all the marks claiming the title change taking place on PPV being a better idea weren’t so bright, huh?

Wait, AJ Starr; as much as I respect your opinion, I’m completely baffled why low PPV numbers are a GOOD thing for TNA, and make people who mock TNA stupid.

All I can come up with is, “because the PPV’s numbers are down from last year, TNA would have been stupid to put good content on it.”

    Please explain.

I don’t know what you’re getting at AJ. I’m not trying to be a smart ass, I would just like for you to elaborate. Are you saying that Robert Roode main eventing was bad for the buy rate? I personally believe that TNA should just scrap ppv’s all together since the titles change hands on tv more often than on ppv. The audience has been trained to believe that you don’t have to pay to see marquee matches anymore. WWE should as well except maybe for Wrestlemania since they rarely take any of their ppv’s seriously. They usually only announce 3-5 matches before the actual event and then throw in a few “bonus matches”.

    1,348,000 > 25,000

    ROFL.

  6. AJ Starr says:

Most of the people on here, claimed that Roode was going to spike the buy rates, and claimed the death of TNA was coming due to him not winning the TNA title from Kurt Angle.

  7. RJ Ace says:

Oh ok I see what you’re saying. I was never sold on Roode as a face but I think he has some potential as a heel. He doesn’t exactly set the world on fire with his character (or lack there of) or with his promos. I think James Storm has potential to be a major star though which is why I’m disappointed with the spoilers.
