Detailed 10/21 WWE Smackdown Recap

by Brad Hoy

WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio opens the show in Mexico City, Mexico and talks about it being a historic SmackDown but it isn’t a good enough event for him to wrestle. Teddy Long then comes out and announces that Del Rio will face Big Show in tonight’s main event.
***Jobber Alert***
Mark Henry defeated John Morrison with the World’s Strongest Slam AGAIN.

Teddy Long announced two new matches that will take place at Vengeance; Sheamus vs. Christian and Zack Ryder vs. Dolph Ziggler for the United States Title.

Next was probably the best match of the night, which saw Wade Barrett defeated Daniel Bryan in a great match. It was good to see these two wrestlers compete against each other as both are very talented and in my opinion both are not getting enough air time/PPV appearances as they deserve.

This was followed by an equally good tag team match when Sheamus and Zack Ryder beat Christian and Dolph Ziggler, Ryder and Sheamus both got big pop’s and were very much over with the Mexican crowd.

Cody Rhodes came out with his baggers to cut a promo about his match with Randy Orton at Vengeance in his very mono tone voice. Randy Orton then comes out and hits one of the guy’s holding Cody’s Bags with an RKO.

Sin Cara Blue defeated Sin Cara Black in a Mask vs. Mask match. The original Sin Cara used the La Mistica which was then turned into a submission to get the win in a great match, which was probably the best either man has had in the WWE. Both were over with the crowd. After the match, Black Cara’s mask had to be removed by force.

WWE Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Natalya came out to talk about Vengeance. Then Beth’s opponent Eve Torres comes out, Eve ends up hitting Beth before fleeing the ring.

Big Show defeated Alberto Del Rio by DQ in the main event non title match after Ricardo Rodriguez interfered. After the match Mark Henry came out but Big Show stopped him from entering the ring and they stared each other down to end the show.
To sum up SmackDown, I thought it was a standard show which predictably was focused around promoting WWE Vengeance this Sunday, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it didn’t exactly blow me away.
