~ UFC/PRIDE veteran Yuki Sasaki made a successful welterweight debut on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan when he defeated Hidetaka Monma via unanimous decision. The bout occured at the Grabaka gym’s inaugural event known as “First Cage Attack. “Sasaki broke a 5 fight losing streak to improve to 23-19-1.
~ UFC heavyweight veteran Sean “Big Sexy” McCorkle won on Saturday in Villa Park, Illinois. He headlined Chicago Cagefighting Championship 4 where he submitted (Kimura) Justin Grizzard (7-14) at 1:57 into the first round. McCorkle was released by the UFC in March after going 1-2 in the Octagon. McCorkle’s 3rd straight win sees him improve to 13-2.
~ UFC lightweight veteran Jason “Dynamite” Dent was defeated by Bellator veteran Daniel Straus on Saturday via unanimous decision in Cleveland, Ohio. The bout occured at North American Allied Fight Series -Caged Fury 15. Straus has won 13 of 14 bouts to improve to 17-4. Dent returned from a 16 month layoff to drop to 21-12 with his 3rd straight loss.
~ Strikeforce veteran Kim “Sugar Free” Couture lost to Suzie Montero on Saturday via unanimous decision in Coral Gables, Florida. The bout occured at W-1 MMA 7: Reloaded. Couture has lost 3 in a row to drop to 3-6.
~ UFC welterweight veteran Edilberto “Crocota” de Oliveira participated in a 8-man welterweight tournament on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at Bitetti Combat 10. Oliveira won his quarterfinal fight against Moises dos Santos via Arm-Triangle Choke submission at 1:25 of the second round but lost to Andre Santos via unanimous decision in the semifinals. Oliveira (19-8-2) lost both of his UFC bouts in 2007.
