1975 – A plane carrying Ric Flair, David Crockett, Bob Bruggers, Tim Woods & Johnny Valentine crashes near Wilmington, North Carolina. The pilot was the only fatality, but all men suffered serious injuries. Both Flair and Valentine suffered broken backs; Flair eventually recovered, but Valentine’s career was over

2007 – TNA Impact is expanded to 2 hours


In 2009, the first WWE Hell In A Cell PPV was held in Newark, New Jersey

– The Undertaker defeats CM Punk in a Hell In A Cell Match to win the World Heavyweight Title
– John Morrison defeats Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE Intercontinental Title
– Mickie James defeats Alicia Fox to retain the WWE Divas Title
– Jeri-Show (Chris Jericho & The Big Show) defeat Batista & Rey Mysterio to retain the WWE Unified Tag Team Titles
– Randy Orton defeats John Cena in a Hell In A Cell Match to win the WWE Title
– Kofi Kingston defeats Jack Swagger & The Miz in a Triple Threat Match to retain the WWE United States Title
– D-Generation X (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) defeat The Legacy (Ted DiBiase Jr & Cody Rhodes) in a Hell In A Cell Match

Title Changes

1973 – Stan Kowalski & Kim Duk defeat Alex Perez & El Gran Tapio to win the TSW United States Tag Team Titles

1979 – Tatsumi Fujinami defeats Ryuma Go to win the WWF Junior Heavyweight Title

1981 – Sgt Slaughter defeats Ricky Steamboat in the final of a tournament to win the vacant NWA United States Title

1993 – Marcus Bagwell & 2 Cold Scorpio defeat The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Sags) to win the WCW Tag Team Titles

1996 – The Colorado Kid defeats Jerry Lawler to win the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Title

1997 – Johnny Ace & Kenta Kobashi defeat Gary Albright & Steve Williams to win the AJPW Unified World Tag Team Titles

1999 – on Nitro, Psychosis is awarded the vacant WCW Cruiserweight Title, but would lose it later in the show to Disco Inferno
