~ The full list of UFC 135 medical suspensions includes:
Jon Jones: Suspended 180 days (or 45 days with physician clearance)
Quinton Jackson: Suspended 60 days with no contact during training for 45 days
Matt Hughes: Suspended 45 days no contact for 30 days
Mark Hunt: Suspended 45 days no contact for 30 days
Ben Rothwell: Suspended 60 days with no contact for 45 days
Takanori Gomi: Suspended 30 days
Aaron Riley: Suspended 180 days (or 90 days with physician clearance)
Nick Ring: Suspended 30 days
Eddie Yagin: Suspended 30 days
Cole Escovedo: Suspended 45 days no contact for 30 days
Ricardo Romero: Suspended 60 days with no contact for 45 days
James Te Huna: Suspended 180 days for injuries (or a minimum 30 Days with physician clearance)
~ On Sunday, UFC heavyweight veteran Scott “Punk Haole” Junk lost to Gotoku Onda via TKO (Punches) at 4:22 into the first round. The bout was held for the “Heat” promotion in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. Junk (7-4-1) lost his only UFC bout at UFC 76 back on 9/22/2007. He also appeared on the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter.
~ Fans are invited to Thursday’s pre-event press conference for this weekend’s UFC on Versus 6 event. The presser takes place at The Newseum, an interactive museum of news and journalism located in Washington, D.C. The press conference begins at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT), and doors open at noon ET. The event also streams online.
~ Jeff Houghland (10-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has suffered an undisclosed injury & will not face bantamweight newcomer Mike Easton (10-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at the UFC on Versus 6 card. UFC on Versus 6 takes place Oct. 1 at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The evening’s main card airs on Versus.
~ UFC veterans Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove (13-9, 1NC) and Jay Silva (7-4) will square off in a middleweight bout on Oct. 14 at theScore Fighting Series at the Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario. Both men won their respective last bouts.
