~ All fighters who underwent drug testing at this month’s “Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov” event successfully passed their tests. Among these tested were headliners Josh Barnett and Sergei Kharitonov, co-headliners Daniel Cormier and Antonio Silva, and title-fight participants Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Mike Kyle and Yoel Romero also were randomly selected from the preliminary card for testing. All of the fighters tested negative for drugs of abuse (such as marijuana and cocaine), as well as anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancers.
~ UFC/DREAM welterweight veteran Keita “K-Taro” Nakamura lost last night in Tokyo, Japan to Akihiro Murayama via submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 2:30 into the first round. The bout was held for Shooto, in their titled series “Shootor’s Legacy 4.” Nakamura (21-5-2) went 0-3 during his UFC tenure but all 3 losses were via decision.
~ UFC/Bellator heavyweight veteran Eddie Sanchez (13-5) won last night via split decision at the Historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS against Strikeforce veteran Brett “Da Grim” Rogers. The bout occurred at Titan Fighting Championship 20 & aired on HDNet. Rogers (11-4) was terrible as he just pushed/held Sanchez into the fence during the fight. He’s 1-4 in his last 5 bouts. Sanchez went 3-3 during his UFC tenure.

~ UFC heavyweight veteran James “The Hammer” McSweeney (6-8) will face Danny “Bad Boy” Babcock (8-4) on October 9 in Miami, Florida for the Championship Fighting Alliance promotion. McSweeney competed on the 10th season of the Ultimate Fighter & holds a 1-2 UFC record.
