9/22/11 Impact Wrestling Recap

Impact Wrestling starts with a video package of Sting defeating Ric Flair last week. Sting says he will get his shot at Hulk Hogan at Bound for Glory to rid TNA of the cancer as Hogan says Sting won’t even make it to Bound for Glory.

Sting’s music hits as he comes down to the ring wearing a Hulk Hogan shirt and is carrying a contract in his hand. Sting says times are good since he is getting his shot at Hogan. Sting then gets the fans to start a “Hogan!” chant as Sting wants him to come down to the ring. Hogan’s music hits as he makes his way down to the ring and says the match isn’t going to happen as he isn’t medically cleared to wrestle. Sting has video footage played with Hogan hitting Sting with a chair and says it is proof that he still has it. Hogan tells Sting that he has nothing left to prove and that he is now a business man.

Sting then suggests that they do the match right here and right now. Eric Bischoff’s music interrupts as he storms down to the ring and asks Sting who he thinks he is. Sting fires back by laying out Bischoff with one punch and Sting goes back to Hogan and says the match will go on at Bound for Glory before finally leaving the ring.

Karen Jarrett is backstage with a few of the Knockouts and says the next match of the Queen’s Qualifier will be taking place tonight between Mickie James and Miss Tessmacher. Karen then tells Tessmacher that she will have to answer to her if she tries any of the strip tease moves tonight. As Tessmacher walks off, Karen begins to yell at Traci Brooks about how she is dressed. Kazarian walks in and says she is worthless as she walks off with Traci. Karen then gets on the phone and begins complaining about what Kazarian said to her as we head into a commercial break.

Jeff Hardy is seen arriving to the Impact Zone as Mike Tenay says you have to give him credit for trying to regain the respect of the locker room.

Match 1: Brooke Tessmacher vs. Mickie James (Queen’s Qualifying Match)
Brooke does her usual strip tease during her ring entrance and tells Karen Jarrett that it was just for her. The bell rings as the two go back and forth with arm bars to start this match off. Brooke then catches Mickie a few blows to the face and picks up a two count after taking Mickie down with a hurricanrana. Mickie then comes back and hits a few clotheslines and back elbows before putting Brook away with a DDT for the pin fall. Mickie James will now join Velvet Sky to take on Winter for the Knockouts Championship at Bound for Glory.

Footage of Mexican America arriving earlier in the day is aired. Anarquia talks about getting a tattoo across his chest as they drive off in a truck to go to a tattoo parlor.

Al Snow is seen talking with Jeff Hardy and says he respects the fact that he came back for forgiveness. Snow says everyone makes mistakes and tells him not to make the same mistake again and to make amends by starting at the top and working his way down.

Match 2: Jesse Sorensen vs. Austin Aries (X Division Championship)
Aries starts out strong against Sorensen and toys with him a bit by running around the ring with Sorensen’s football. Aries strikes a Heisman pose as Sorensen uses this as a chance to turn the tide with a suicide dive over the top rope and onto the floor. The match returns to the ring as Kid Kash makes his way towards the ringside area. Sorensen hits Aries with a high cross body block as Kash grabs Sorensen’s football. Back in the ring Sorensen hits Aries with a hard clothesline and picks up a near fall over the champion. Kash is able to finally distract Sorensen as Aries connects with a dropkick to the back of Sorensen’s head and rolls him up for the pin fall to retain the X Division Championship. After the match, Kash tries to enter the ring but the referee holds him back as the two share a few words.

Mr. Anderson and RVD are backstage and are discussing their match tonight against Bully Ray and Jerry Lynn. RVD says he cannot wait to get in the ring against Lynn and they want to soften them up before Bound for Glory.

Footage of Anaquia showing off his new tattoo is aired as he tells Sarita and Rosita out to get some top shelf tequila. The tattoo artist then says she has another appointment but says her replacement is on the way. Her replacement are Ink Inc. who come in and take out Mexican America bu sending Hernandez through a table and nailing Anarquia with a trash can. Shannon Moore then grabs the tattoo needle as Jesse Neal tells the camera man that he cannot record this.

Matt Morgan is seen talking with Jeff Hardy and he tells him that he gave a black eye to everyone in the locker room for what he did at Victory Road. Morgan then says he will give Hardy another chance since he can feel for him that he was once a pain killer addict and has been free of them for four years now. He then tells Hardy not to screw up this chance he has been given and if he does, Morgan will be the first one to hunt him down. Hardy says he understands and thanks Morgan for forgiving him.

We come back from a commercial break to see RVD has been put through a table backstage. A random person calls out for a trainer as Mike Tenay says they will try to get to the bottom of this.

Kurt Angle is backstage with Jeff Hardy and he tells him that nobody wants him here. Hardy asks who Angle is to judge him as Angle says he can say what he wants because he is Kurt Angle. Hardy wonders if Angle doesn’t want him here because he is a threat to which Angle responds that nobody is a threat to him as he walks away.

Kurt Angle’s music hits as he makes his way to the ring with the TNA World Championship slung over his shoulder. Angle grabs a microphone and calls Bobby Roode out to the ring and Angle congratulates Roode for defeating Kazarian last week and tells him that he will be facing Christopher Daniels this week. Roode tells Angle that nothing and nobody will prevent him from walking out as the champion at Bound for Glory. Angle says he knows somebody that will stand in his ways and may be his best friend in the business.

James Storm’s music hits as he makes his way down to the ring and wonders if Roode thinks Immortal bought him out. Storm says he makes his own rules and he is out here to get into it with Angle. Storm suggests that since he is so good at making matches, Angle puts himself in a match against him tonight. Angle wonders if Storm is out of his mind as Storm says he wants to earn Angle’s respect and tells him that he will see him later on in the ring tonight.

Match 3: Jerry Lynn & Bully Ray vs. Mr. Anderson (Handicap Match)
This has been changed to a handicap match since RVD has been taken out. Anderson starts out against Lynn and Anderson quickly takes him down. Anderson heads to the top rope but Ray knocks him down to stall his momentum. Ray is tagged into the match and he slams him down to the mat and picks up a near fall after hitting a splash. Lynn and Ray try to double team Anderson but Anderson is able to fight back and takes them both out.

Anderson sends Lynn out to the floor and counters an attempt at the Bubba Bomb to take Ray out with a Mic Check, but Ray is able to kick out. Anderson picks Ray up on his shoulders but Lynn comes in and hits Anderson with a dropkick. Lynn the distracts the referee as Ray grabs his chain and levels Anderson with a clothesline and picks up the pin fall in this handicap match. Ray and Lynn celebrate their victory as they walk up the entrance ramp and the announce team hype the rest of tonight’s matches as we head into a commercial break.

James Storm is backstage and says he is happy for Bobby Roode but says that won’t stop him from stirring up a little trouble and Kurt Angle is the big fish that he has his sights on.

Christopher Daniels comes down to the ring and says Kurt Angle made a match with him against Bobby Roode, however, he refuses to do it. Daniels says it would be a great match but he has nothing left to prove as he defeated AJ Styles in the ring three weeks ago. Daniels says Roode is a great wrestlers, but Styles is a grand slam champion and since he defeated Styles, he isn’t going to bother wrestling Roode.

AJ Styles’ music hits as he comes down to the ring and asks Daniels if this is some sort of ongoing joke. Styles says he lost and he is over it and tells Daniels to get over the victory. Styles says if he keeps on bringing it up, they may have another match, however, Daniels says it was the last time and he won. Styles knocks the microphone from Daniels’ hand and begins yelling at him before walking away. Daniels then says he didn’t know he was a sore loser, which makes Styles snap and he goes after Daniels. Security comes out to separate the two as the crowd breaks into a “let them fight!” chant and they begin to go at it again as we head into a commercial break.

We return from the break and see Styles and Daniels still going at it. They fight their way past the merchandise stands and into a special Direct Auto Insurance area before heading back towards the ring. The two begin to fight more in the ring as Kazarian finally comes out and get between the two of them. Kazarian tries to get them to calm down and says that they are family. It appears that it has finally calmed down but Daniels kicks Styles between the legs before leaving the ring.

Kurt Angle is backstage with Scott Steiner and he says has been training and neither Bobby Roode or James Storm will stop him. Angle lets his trainer, Steiner, say a few words who says Angle is an animal and the greatest of all time. Steiner then tells Storm that Angle will kick his ass. The match between the two is up next.

We see footage of Kazarian trying to talk to Christopher Daniels backstage and says they are both out of line and tells Daniels that AJ Styles is not his enemy. Daniels says it is his fault and tells Kazarian to go talk to him. Kazarian is also seen talking to Styles who says Daniels has lost his mind. Kazarian tries to tell Styles to be the bigger man as Styles begins to vomit in a garbage can.

Eric Bischoff is talking to Hulk Hogan and is trying to figure out a loophole to get out of the match against Sting. Hogan says he has it all figured out and is going to drop a bombshell next week.

Match 4: James Storm vs. Kurt Angle
Jeremy Borash handles the formal ring introductions for the main event. The bell sounds and Storm takes Angle down with a series of punches and hip tosses before putting Angle in a headlock. Angle tries to fight back but Storm dumps him over the top rope and onto the floor. The fight goes out to the ringside area where Storm sends Angle into the guard railing. Storm tries to send Angle into the steps but Angle is able to reverse it and send Storm into them instead. Angle then takes Storm down with a belly-to-belly suplex onto the entrance ramp before rolling him back into the ring.

Angle begins to wear down Storm with a chin lock and picks up a near fall after driving a knee into Storm’s midsection. Both Angle and Storm take each other out with cross body blocks as the referee starts the 10 count. They both get to their feet as Storm hits Angle with an atomic drop and a series of clotheslines. Storm then nearly puts Angle away after hitting a back cracker, however, Angle is able to get back into the match with a belly-to-belly suplex.

Angle then tries for an Angle Slam but Storm counters, however, Angle quickly reverses into an ankle lock in the middle of the ring. Storm thinks about tapping out but instead rolls through and nearly picks up the pin fall. Storm then slams Angle down to the mat and sets up for a superkick but Angle counters with a series of German suplexes. Angle then tries for a moonsault but Storm rolls out of the way as they are both slow to get up. Storm gets up first and heads to the top rope and hits an elbow drop for another near fall.

The two get to their feet and exchange blows before Storm picks up Angle for the Eye of the Storm but Angle is able to escape. Gunner then runs out to the ring but Storm knocks him off the ring apron. Angle uses the distraction to give Storm the Angle Slam but Storm is able to kick out of the pin attempt. Angle begins to argue with the referee for a bit and Storm goes for a superkick but ends up kicking the referee instead. Storm then connects with a superkick on Angle but the referee is out and can’t make the count. Earl Hebner runs down to the ring to make the count but Gunner pulls him out.

Gunner then runs in and nails Storm with the TNA World Championship and begins beating him down until Bobby Roode runs out and helps his partner. Roode dumps Gunner out to the floor as he then picks up the World Championship and holds it up in the air in front of Kurt Angle. Roode then lays the title at Angle’s feet as he goes and checks on his partner and Impact Wrestling comes to a close.

Quick Results
– Mickie James defeated Brooke Tessmacher by pin fall in a Queen’s Qualifying Match.
– Austin Aries defeated Jesse Sorensen by pin fall to retain the X Division Championship.
– Jerry Lynn & Bully Ray defeated Mr. Anderson by pin fall in a handicap match.
– James Storm and Kurt Angle fought to a no contest.
