2009 – Togi Makabe wins the NJPW G1 Climax Tournament, defeating Shinsuke Nakamura in the final

2010 – WWE retires the World Tag Team Titles in favour of the WWE Tag Team Titles


In 2009, TNA Hard Justice was held in Orlando, Florida

– Hernandez defeats Rob Terry to retain his Feast or Fired briefcase
– The British Invasion (Brutus Magnus & Doug Williams) defeat Beer Money Inc (James Storm & Robert Roode) to retain the IWGP Tag Team Titles
– ODB & Cody Deaner defeat The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky & Angelina Love). Deaner pinned Sky to win the TNA Knockouts Title for ODB
– Samoa Joe defeats Homicide to win the TNA X-Division Title
– The Main Event Mafia (Booker T & Scott Steiner) defeat Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) in a Falls Count Anywhere Match to retain the TNA Tag Team Titles
– Kevin Nash defeats Mick Foley to win the TNA Legends Title
– Kurt Angle defeats Sting & Matt Morgan in a 3-Way Match to retain the TNA World Title

1969 – Danny Hodge defeats Chuck Karbo to win the TSW North American Title

1977 – Porkchop Cash & Mike George defeat The Medics (1 & 2) to win the TSW United States Tag Team Titles

1992 – The Great Muta defeats Riki Choshu to win the IWGP Heavyweight Title and the Greatest 18 Championship

In Memoriam

The wrestling world has lost 2 personalities on this date. Firstly, in 1990, former AWA and NWA World Champion Pat O’Connor died of cancer at the age of 65, having made his last major wrestling appearance 3 years previously in a WWF ‘Old Timers Battle Royal’, won by Lou Thesz. Secondly, in 2007, former WWF wrestler Dewey ‘The Missing Link’ Robinson died, also of cancer, aged 68.
