2000 – Kensuke Sasaki wins the NJPW G1 Climax Tournament, defeating Manabu Nakanishi in the final

2006 – Hiroyoshi Tenzan wins the NJPW G1 Climax Tournament, defeating Satoshi Kojima in the final


In 2000, WCW New Blood Rising was held in Vancouver, Canada. This was the first and only PPV to bear this name

– Buff Bagwell defeats Kanyon in a Judy Bagwell on a Forklift Match
– KroniK (Brian Adams & Bryan Clark) defeat The Perfect Event (Shawn Stasiak & Chuck Palumbo), The Natural Born Thrillers (Sean O’Haire & Mark Jindrak) & The Misfits In Action (General Rection & Cpl Cajun) in a Four Corners Match with Rey Misterio Jr, Disco Inferno & Tygress as special guest referees to retain the WCW World Tag Team Titles
– Lance Storm defeats Mike Awesome in a Canadian Rules Match with Jacques Rougeau as special guest referee to retain the WCW United States Title
– The Dark Carnival (Vampiro & The Great Muta) defeat KroniK (Brian Adams & Bryan Clark) to win the WCW World Tag Team Titles
– Kevin Nash defeats Goldberg & Scott Steiner in a Triple Threat Match
– Booker T defeats Jeff Jarrett to retain the WCW World Title

In 2006, TNA Hard Justice was the event where the roof of the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida caught fire, forcing the evacuation of the building during the event. The fire was quickly put out and the event resumed with one match cancelled

– Samoa Joe defeats Rhino & Monty Brown in a 3-Way Falls Count Anywhere Match
– Senshi defeats Petey Williams & Jay Lethal in a 3-Way Dance to retain the TNA X-Division Title
– AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels defeat The Latin American Exchange (Homicide & Hernandez) to retain the NWA Tag Team Titles
– Jeff Jarrett defeats Sting to retain the NWA World Title

1998 – on Thunder, Bret Hart defeats Lex Luger to win the WCW United States Title

1999 – The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray & D-Von) defeat Spike Dudley & Balls Mahoney to win the ECW Tag Team Titles

2001 – on Raw, Jeff Hardy defeats Rob Van Dam to win the WWF Hardcore Title

2006 – Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Takashi Sugiura defeat Minoru Fujita & Ikuto Hidaka to win the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles

In Memoriam

The wrestling world has lost 3 personalities on this day. Firstly, in 2005, one-time WWWF US Tag Team Champion Chris Tolos died of cancer at the age of 75. Secondly, former AJPW, WWF and WCW Tag Team Champion Brian ‘Crush’ Adams died of a suspected drug overdose (the official cause has never been made public) aged 44. Finally, in 2010, 3-time World Tag Team Champion Lance Cade was found dead of apparent heart failure, aged just 29
