Who CM Punk wants to face at Wrestlemania 28

CM Punk told Vince McMahon on WWE Raw this week that despite already booking The Rock vs. John Cena at Wrestlemania 28 next year, he wanted to be in the main event. Punk didn’t name his dream opponent, but according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Punk himself would like to face WWE hall of famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at Wrestlemania. The word is that the chances of that actually happening are low.

that would be an awesome match if it did happen

  2. RJ Ace says:

I don’t know how good the chances are but seeds have been planted for a match. CM Punk and Steve Austin were matched up against each other in the hype for the WWE All Stars game which led to them taking jabs at each other on Twitter. Steve Austin has hinted multiple times in the last year that he could come back but he’s happy with his life right now. He also praised CM Punk in an interview a few months back and talked about how natural and easy a feud would be between the 2. They also had that backstage exchange a few weeks back on Raw showing great chemistry on camera. Then Punk for reasons that were never explained wore a Steve Austin shirt during his promo 3 weeks ago.

I think Punk vs Austin is a much more appealing match than Cena vs The Rock. I just don’t see both matches happening on the same card. I thought maybe Punk vs Austin was possible at Summerslam but it seems unlikely now.

  4. Gez says:

Does this mean that Punk will be back for Wrestlemania? Do we know if he is just taking some time off, or he is going for good.

  5. Captain Ass says:

Nobody knows, Gez. It’s all speculation.

  6. Rick says:

    Rock v Cena:
    Austin v Punk,
past vs present generations, this probably would be the biggest Mania ever!

  7. deathedge says:

    @Rick

    Yeah! Have a double header!

The only downside is that you couldn’t have these matches back to back, as it might wear out the crowd.

  8. Really? says:

Yeah, looks like he’s not really leaving then, or if he is its very short term, like Bryan Danielson where he made a few indy appearances talking about how great PG is to all the indy crowds on behalf of WWE before officially “returning.”

  9. Seven says:

@Captain Ass/@Gez – ernie lupica knows, apparently. Ask him. ;)

Anyways, It really does seem unlikely. But all of you are right, it would really be the biggest ‘Mania ever! Although unlikely, fans can dream, can’t they?

  12. -Jay- says:

  13. Wico says:

I thinking it will be CM Punk against Triple H…..If Punk is still bashing on McMahon and Triple H close to Wrestlemania
