Sgt. Slaughter headlines Petersburg event on Sunday

PETERSBURG – A night of professional wrestling comes to the Petersburg Civic
Center Sunday, July 3. This Independence Day event is free to all active duty
military, with free shuttle bus service from the Fort Lee PX to the event.

For all others, the cost is $10 general admission; $5 children younger than 8.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Prince George High School Athletic
Department; Building the Fire Within, a non-profit organization that offers
housing and programs for non-violent ex-offender women released from prison; and
the Holiday Helper program, which is a Fort Lee charity that allows junior
ranking military members stationed at Fort Lee to shop for holiday toys,
stocking stuffers, hats and mittens for their children free of charge.

There will be two stages, one indoor and one outdoor; four live bands, food, a
petting zoo, Flossie the Clown, a hotdog eating contest and more. Those
attending will get to meet and greet Sgt. Slaughter, WWW Champion and Hall of
Fame wrestler; Melissa Coates, Miss Olympia Body Builder, pro wrestler and
fitness model.

Amber O’Neill and her Arena Chicks from Wrestlefest 2011 will be on hand, as
well as Susan Greenbaum, a singer/songwriter from Richmond.
