Full transcript of CM Punk’s Raw promo

by Lawrence Frontera

“John Cena, while you lay there, hopefully as uncomfortable as you possibly can be, I want you to listen to me.

I want you to digest this because before I leave in 3 weeks with your WWE Championship, I have a lot of things I want to get off my chest.

I don’t hate you, John. I don’t even dislike you. I do like you. I like you a hell of a lot more than I like most people in the back.

I hate this idea that you’re the best. Because you’re not. I’m the best. I’m the best in the world. There’s one thing you’re better at than I am and that’s kissing Vince McMahon’s ass.

You’re as good as kissing Vince McMahon’s ass as Hulk Hogan was. I don’t know if you’re as good as Dwayne though. He’s a pretty good ass kisser. Always was and still is.

Whoops! I’m breaking the fourth wall! (Punk waves to the camera)

I am the best wrestler in the world.

I’ve been the best since day one when I walked into this company. And I’ve been vilified and hated since that day because Paul Heyman saw something in me that nobody else wanted to admit. That’s right, I’m a Paul Heyman guy. You know who else was a Paul Heyman guy? Brock Lesnar. And he split just like I’m splitting. But the biggest difference between me and Brock is I’m going to leave with the WWE Championship.

I’ve grabbed so many of Vincent K. McMahon’s brass rings that it’s finally dawned on me that there just that, they’re completely imaginary. The only thing that’s real is me and the fact that day in and day out, for almost six years, I have proved to everybody in the world that I am the best on this microphone, in that ring, even in commentary! Nobody can touch me!

And yet no matter how many times I prove it, I’m not on your lovely little collector cups. I’m not on the cover of the program. I’m barely promoted. I don’t get to be in movies. I’m certainly not on any crappy show on the USA Network. I’m not on the poster of WrestleMania. I’m not on the signature that’s produced at the start of the show. I’m not on Conan O’Brian. I’m not on Jimmy Fallon. But the fact of the matter is, I should be.

This isn’t sour grapes. But the fact that Dwayne is in the main event at WrestleMania next year and I’m not makes me sick!

Oh hey, let me get something straight. Those of you who are cheering me right now, you are just as big a part of me leaving as anything else. Because you’re the ones who are sipping on those collector cups right now. You’re the ones that buy those programs that my face isn’t on the cover of. And then at five in the morning at the airport, you try to shove it in my face and get an autograph and try to sell it on Ebay because you’re too lazy to go get a real job.

I’m leaving with the WWE Championship on July 17th. And hell, who knows, maybe I’ll go defend it in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Maybe…I’ll go back to Ring of Honor.

(Punk looks at the camera and waves)

Hey, Colt Cabana, how you doing?

The reason I’m leaving is you people. Because after I’m gone, you’re still going to pour money into this company. I’m just a spoke on the wheel. The wheel is going to keep turning and I understand that. Vince McMahon is going to make money despite himself. He’s a millionaire who should be a billionaire. You know why he’s not a billionaire? Because he surrounds himself with glad-handed, non-sensical, d—–bag (censored) yes men, like John Laurinaitis, who’s going to tell him everything he wants to hear, and I’d like to think that maybe this company will better after Vince McMahon is dead. But the fact is, it’s going to be taken over by his idiotic daughter and his doofus son-in-law and the rest of his stupid family.

Let me tell you a personal story about Vince McMahon alright. We do this whole (anti) bully campaign

(Mic cut off.)”

Don’t get me wrong, I think Punk’s promo was really awesome last night but am I the only one that noticed he didn’t mention TNA when he went off about Ring of Honor and NJPW? I just found it a little to “convenient” that WWE’s closest competition in the States was not used as a threat by Punk to take The WWE title to if he wins at MITB. I’d love to see him take the title from Cena (fat chance because of BS politics!!) just to get a change from the same old crappy storylines and guys that are the “champs” all the time. What do you guys think?

  2. james says:

wowwww wtf sounds like WWE did something to really piss him off

  3. Urvy says:

Breaking the 4th Wall, could CM Punk be a Brony? Because breaking the 4th wall is now connected to Pinkie Pie

  4. deathedge says:

It’s a worked shoot plain and simple, but I think Punk may have crossed some lines he wasn’t supposed too. RAW cut off so abruptly, I don’t even think I saw the little copyright logo and I know I didn’t see a fade to black. Wether this was just part of the illusion, or because the producers were told to abruptly cut it is anyone’s guess.

  5. Drew says:

@The Kev: I don’t think that CM Punk ever wants to return to TNA; he quit the last time he was there.

  6. dave says:

If you’ve read the Raw spoilers for July 4th, deathedge, you’ll have some answers, if not then enjoy the show next week!

  7. Kevin says:

The abrupt cutoff to RAW happened just as it was supposed to. The copyright bug appeared right at 11pm and Michael Cole did his spiel and recap of everything that had taken place that night just like he normally does at 10pm. I thought it was strange that the copyright popped up at 11 and not at the end of the show. Now we know why.

  8. -Jay- says:

lol at the cheap shots to Rock, CM Punk is money.

  9. eddie cook says:

That wasn’t totally planed and I think only way punk would go to tna is if heyman was there

  10. Tim Steed says:

    CM Punk to TNA?

I think that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

  11. B says:

Id like too see punk in tna then maybe id actually get to meet him. I know ill never meet any wwe talents until they leave wwe since vince keeps them in a cage. Only way you can ever meet them is in access at summerslam or mania but if you cant afford the vip tix or want to wait in line all day for maybe one autograph its not happenin. TNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Nuff Said says:

Maybe Punk is smart enough to know what a load of crap TNA really is after all!!!

  13. Renato says:

    @The Kev.

Thats just the way they want to sink TNA, the way of bullying TNA by WWE, bassicly sayign they´re no competition to them!

  14. Filip-Valentin CLEM says:

Yes! It’s been a while since WWE RAW had such emotional in-ring promos.
It’s a kind salute to the current wrerstling world.
Well, this is why “Wrestling Matters” to CM Punk …
But Vince always enjoys the publicity … Not bad! But very rare to make a significant difference.

  15. IronHyde says:

LMAO! Kayfabe or not… This was waaaay better than that idiot LeBron James any day!

  16. MiZery says:

I believe he said “law” not “wall”… and that would be mentioning the word wrestling in WWE… Which is pathetic, and the reason why if Impact Wrestling can get rid of all their walking corpses and focus on the younger talent could be a legit contender against World xxxxxxxxx Entertainment… Looking forward to seeing ROH on television as well, but until then I just get my wrestling fix from here

  17. deathedge says:

For the record if you guys want to know what Punk thinks of TNA and Hulk Hogan, look up his interview with the BJ Shea Morning Experience on 99.9 KISW. Not pretty…

  18. gmunny says:

He had me going until the part where he attacked the fans and selling autographs on ebay. Still, one of the best worked shoots I’ve ever seen. This is a great strategy by McMahon and the creative team. Have a wrestler who clearly doesn’t get the attention and promotion he deserves begin breaking kayfabe because he’s not getting the attention and promotion he deserves.

  19. mshelez says:

@B – I met CM Punk in NYC a few years ago at a sports store/ice cream parlor. Matt Hardy was supposed to be there but something happened and CM Punk was his replacement. Thank goodness for that, too, because at that time, meeting Matt Hardy meant something but nowadays, it means nothing to me. But I’ll always have the memory of meeting CM Punk with my daughter who was about 5 at the time and let me tell you, he was really awesome. She drew a picture for him and he had her autograph the picture for him, just like he was autographing a picture for her. I can’t say I was a fan of CM Punk’s before I went but after that moment, was instantly a fan and always will be.

  20. Herp says:

    @TheKev

    >implying TNA is competition

    HAHAHAHAHA

  21. The Kev says:

I only said that TNA was the closest “competition” that WWE has in the States. I wasn’t implying that TNA was a serious threat or anything like that. Just found it a little strange that they weren’t mentioned in Punk’s promo as it seems like TNA would be the biggest “opportunity” for Punk to “take” the WWE title to as TNA has international TV coverage and the other promotions he mentioned do not. That’s all I was saying.

  22. deathedge says:

    @The Kev

Please don’t tell me you are implying WWE and TNA have a secretive buddy buddy relationship…

  23. Biggs says:

What I want to hear is CM Punk’s story about the anti-bully campaign. Do you guys have any idea about that? Is it just Vince’s borderline hypocrisy or something? Post it here please I’m really intrigued about it.

  24. Dave K says:

Am I wrong, but is this now 2 weeks in a row Punk’s mic was cut off? Wasn’t he going into the anti-bullying issue both times?
