The WWE opening promo plays.

A video package runs focusing on R-Truth saying the WWE Universe or all of the “Little Jimmys” follow WWE Champion John Cena blindly. Truth in the promo said it is ironic we are coming to everyone live from Washington, D.C. – the birthplace of lies and conspiracy. The promo ends with R-Truth saying, “Tonight…the Truth…will set me free.”

A graphic opening hits welcoming us to Capitol Punishment. We go live to the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. where a display of pyro goes off on a huge set.

WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston is out first to kick off the show.

Michael Cole, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Booker T are on commentary tonight. They are using the red, white and blue ropes tonight.

Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero

Kofi Kingston with a big headlock takedown early on Ziggler. Ziggler counters with the same. Kingston fires back with a flying elbow. Kingston with a quick dropkick and then monkey flips Ziggler out of the corner high in the air. Ziggler drops Kingston off the ropes and connects with a leg drop over the neck for a two count. Ziggler with a big standing dropkick that levels Kingston. Ziggler with an elbow drop and starts working over Kingston’s head on the mat. Kingston fires back with elbows. Booker T on commentary said he is a big fan of Ziggler getting “rid of the mullet.” Ziggler with a back suplex into a bridge for a two count. Kingston counters a sleeper hold attempt by Ziggler. Kingston with huge chops and a dropkick on Ziggler. Kingston with a crossbody over Ziggler’s lower back for a two count. Kingston with a Boom Drop over Ziggler. Ziggler dodges Trouble in Paradise. Kingston with an S.O.S. pinning combo for a close two count. Pinfall attempts with Ziggler holding the tights, Kingston fires out and hits a big double stomp to the chest of Ziggler for another close two count. Ziggler gets in a big shot on Kingston who was climbing up to the top turnbuckle. Kingston drops Ziggler off and Kingston connects with a huge crossbody. Kingston again gets an even closer two count pinfall on Ziggler. Kingston goes for the S.O.S. again and Ziggler counters with a sleeper. Kingston sends Ziggler face first into the corner to break it up. Ziggler dodges Trouble in Paradise again. Kingston holds on to the ropes when Ziggler attempts the Zig Zag. Vickie gets in a cheap shot with the referee distracted. Ziggler gets the sleeper hold locked on. Ziggler drops Kingston down to the mat and locks it in even more. They rolled near the ropes and Ziggler kicked off the ropes to push it more to the middle. Booker T and Michael Cole mention the referee should have broken it up at that point. The referee then calls for the bell. Lots of confusion. The referee checks on Kingston and he is out. The WWE United States Championship is tossed into the ring, the referee picks it up and hands it to Ziggler holding up his arm. Ziggler is the new champion.

Winner and NEW WWE United States Champion: Dolph Ziggler

After the match, we see highlights of the match leading to the finish showing that Ziggler choked out Kingston.

Backstage, a limo pulls up and R-Truth gets out with the WWE Championship on his shoulder. Josh Mathews walks up looking to get a word. R-Truth yells, “THE CHAMP…IS IN…THE HOUSE…FOSHIZZLE.” He walks away and sees Eve. Eve said she doesn’t know who Truth is anymore. Truth said she is right and he wants to dedicate his victory tonight to all of the little Jimmys.

Backstage, The Miz is with Todd Grisham. Grisham said his critics are asking him if he has what it takes to beat Alex Riley tonight. The Miz responds, “Really? That is how low my career has sunk? I’m a former WWE Champion!” Miz said he rescued Riley from all of the NXT rejects and said the only thing he was good for was carrying around his “Money in the Bank” briefcase. He talks about winning that briefcase and winning the main event of Wrestlemania, while Riley was carrying the briefcase. Miz said after he beats Riley tonight he will go back to carrying something else for another person.

The Miz vs. Alex Riley

The Miz “AWESOME” balloons entrance from Wrestlemania were back tonight. He also brought out his old briefcase. Big reaction for Alex Riley. Riley goes after Miz right away when the bell rings including a big tackle with right hands. Miz runs away and Riley chases him down getting in big shots in the corner. Miz then drops Riley with a big boot to the face. Miz with big knees to the chest of Riley. Miz hits the ropes and then kicks Riley in the face again. Miz yells out, “Who made you! Who made you!?” Miz with right hands to Riley on the mat. Riley attempts a comeback, but Miz counters and hits his big swinging DDT. Miz drives his knees into the back of Riley. Miz drops Riley with a big clothesline and yells, “Stay down!” Miz walks around Riley and each time Riley sits up, Miz drops him. Riley charges the corner with his shoulder when Miz moves out of the way. Miz with another boot to the face on the outside. Miz tosses Riley back in, pulls him out under the bottom rope and hits some big forearms to the back. Miz rolls Riley to the middle of the ring, hooks the leg and gets a two count. Miz leans his face down near Riley, Riley reaches out for a right hand and Miz moves out of the way. Miz dodges another attempt by Riley. Riley catches him a third time. Miz then applies a headlock right away. Miz jumps on Riley’s back to apply more pressure bringing Riley down to the mat. Miz with another pinfall and Riley again kicks out. Miz with his corner clothesline on Riley. Miz then catches Riley with a top rope sledgehammer, cover and again Riley kicks out after two. Miz puts Riley in the tree of woe in the corner. Miz with kicks to the face of Riley. Miz misses a dropkick to Riley’s face and slides into the steel ring post. Riley explodes on Miz with a big spear. Riley tosses Miz into two corners and hits a big spinebuster. Cover by Riley and Miz kicks out after two. Miz tosses Riley out of the ring. When Miz leans out to grab Riley, he kicks Miz in the head and Miz falls back. Riley with a two count in the ring. Riley then tosses Miz into the announcers table. Michael Cole stands up and yells at Riley. Riley pulls Cole over the table by his tie. Miz gets in a shot and tosses Riley back in the ring. Miz grabs his briefcase and tries to use it. The referee sees this and pulls it out of Miz’s hands. Riley then hits a big jumping DDT on Miz, covers and gets the pinfall.

Winner: Alex Riley

After the match, we see highlights of the match leading to the finish. Back live, Alex Riley is celebrating in the ring while we see a shot of a shocked Miz sitting at ringside. Booker T and Jerry Lawler talk about Riley silencing the critics tonight.

Backstage, we see Sgt. Slaughter with an actor playing President Barack Obama. They say if a Mexican hits a Giant with a car, he is covered by Obama-Care. Vickie Guerrero runs up and sings “Happy Father’s Day” to the fake Obama. The Secret Service pull her away kicking and screaming.

A promo plays for tomorrow night’s “Power to the People” three-hour edition of Monday Night Raw.

A video package runs highlighting Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio tonight.

Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio

Big Show attacked Del Rio right away during his entrance. Lots of brawling with Big Show getting the better of Del Rio. Mark Henry then shows up and tosses Big Show over the announcers table. Mark Henry then picks up Big Show, literally walks towards the table holding him up and slams him over the spanish announce table shattering it to pieces. Del Rio looked on from inside the ring. Henry worked over Big Show’s knee dropping it over the ground. The referee checks on Big Show who is grabbing his knee in pain. The refeee jumps in the ring and tells Del Rio to back up. It looks like the referee is giving Big Show a chance to get back into the match. When Big Show gets to one knee, the referee starts the count. The referee gets to 7 and Big Show rolls in. The referee asks him if he is good to go. Big Show says he is okay and we get the official ring bell. Big Show hobbles on one leg and gets in a big chop on Del Rio. Del Rio counters a chokeslam attempt by hitting some kicks to the knee of Big Show. Del Rio with a dropkick to the knee of Big Show and keeps kicking him in the face each time he tries to sit up. Del Rio covers and Big Show powers out after two. Big Show counters a boot to the face tossing Del Rio away. Big Show with a chokeslam on Del Rio. Big Show’s knee gave out on the way down. Del Rio rolls out of the ring. The referee starts the count. A limping Big Show leans down, pulls Del Rio to the ring apron and Del Rio drops Big Show’s chin off the top rope. Del Rio comes off the top, Big Show catches him with a choke, Del Rio with kicks and punches to Big Show. Big Show is down on one knee, Del Rio attempts his armbar and Big Show counters. Del Rio dropkicks the knee of Big Show again and Del Rio locks on a kneebar. Del Rio has it locked in tight and Big Show screams out in pain. Big Show reaches out and gets to the bottom rope. Big Show fights to his feet using the ropes for help. When he stands up, Big Show falls back down and the referee says he must get to his feet or he will call the match. Big Show gets to his feet and he lunges at Del Rio falling down. The referee calls for the bell.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio

After the match, WWE officials help Big Show to the back.

Backstage, R-Truth is telling a WWE employee to get photos of him with the WWE Championship now instead of after the match when he is all sweaty and people are bothering him. The employee points out the name plate says John Cena and not R-Truth. Truth chokes the man saying the name plate will say his name later tonight.

A promo for “The Very Best of WCW Monday Nitro” DVD airs.

Backstage, Matt Striker is with WWE Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett. Barrett takes the mic away from Striker saying he can handle it from here. Barrett takes a walk towards the arena saying Washington, D.C. needs a King or a Queen. He says this is the same city that hosted a politician that got in trouble for tweeting photos of himself in his underwear. Barrett said the problem with the U.S. is that from the outside it looks all nice, but you get a little closer and it is nothing but a hollow shell. He said that is much like his opponent tonight and promises to get the job done in front of everyone here tonight.

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Wade Barrett (c) vs. Ezekiel Jackson

A loud “USA” chant broke out at the start of the match. Barrett with a quick headlock, Jackson breaks it up and drops Barrett quickly. Barrett bails to the corner to prevent an attack from Jackson. Cole points out that Jackson isn’t American either to the laughter of Booker T and Jerry Lawler. Jackson with a big body shot and right hand on Barrett. Jackson with a huge forearm to the back of Barrett’s neck that results in a two count. Barrett bails again to the corner, gets around Jackson and then hits a big boot in the corner. Jackson attempts a clothesline, but Barrett counter into a big sidewalk slam for a two count. A fairly loud “WE WANT RYDER” chant breaks out. Lots of pinfall attempts between Barrett and Jackson. Barrett catches Jackson with a big kick to the gut and then connects with a pump handle slam. Barrett with big kicks to the gut of Jackson in the corner. Jackson with an elbow and a series of tackles on Barrett. Jackson with a splash in the corner, Barrett misses a splash of his own and Jackson attempts a scoop slam. Barrett counters with big knees. Barrett has Jackson up and connects with the Wasteland. Barrett hooks the leg and Jackson gets a shoulder up after two. Barrett is shocked. Jackson with one scoop slam, a second, a third, a fourth and then gets Barrett up in the Torture Rack. Barrett taps out.

Winner and NEW WWE Intercontinental Champion: Ezekiel Jackson

After the match, we see a highlight of the finish of Barrett tapping out to the Torture Rack. Back live, Big Zeke flexes and holds up the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Jerry “The King” Lawler grabs a mic and wants to get some comments from Jackson about becoming the new Intercontinental Champion. Jackson said this is the greatest day of his life and he put a final stamp on The Corre.

Backstage, Santino, Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly are with the fake President Barack Obama. Santino tries to show Obama how to execute the Cobra, but the Secret Service tackle him and rush Obama out of the room.

Backstage, Josh Mathews is with CM Punk. Punk mentions that Washington, D.C. is the birthplace of the straight edge lifestyle, but it is also the home of dirty politics. He said he heard Mathews call him a politician and he agrees. Punk uses air quotes referring to himself as a “sports entertainer” in that instead of most politicians, he tells the truth and that Rey Mysterio is lying through his mask.

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk

Rey Mysterio trips up CM Punk and Punk takes Mysterio’s back. Mysterio with big kicks to Punk’s legs. Punk fires back with a quick scoop slam. Lots of pinfall combo attempts between the two. Mysterio catches Punk with a dropkick to the face and Mysterio goes for the 619, but Punk quickly moves out of the way. Mysterio then dropkicks Punk to the outside. Mysterio jumps off the ring apron, Punk catches him and then drops him head first off the barricade. Punk tosses Mysterio back in the ring and stomps over his back and chest. Punk with a surfboard submission on Mysterio. Mysterio fights out and Punk keeps the action grounded locking his legs around the body of Mysterio. Mysterio drives his head into the chest of Punk to break free. Mysterio with a huricanrana that sends Punk into the ropes. Punk counters a 619 with a big clothesline. Punk then locks on an abdominal stretch. Mysterio breaks free and drop toe holds Punk face first into the second turnbuckle. Punk trips up Mysterio when he attempted a springboard moonsault. Punk with headbutts to the chest of Mysterio. Mysterio tosses Punk to the outside getting Punk wrapped up in a head scissors takedown. Mysterio with a springboard moonsault to Punk on the outside. Back in the ring, Mysterio with a diving headbutt to Punk. Punk reverses a crossbody by Mysterio into a two count pinfall. Series of counters with Punk blocking kick attempts. Mysterio finally catches Punk with a kick to the head and gets a very close two count. Mysterio is back up top. Punk with headbutts to the spine of Mysterio. Punk then drops Mysterio with a back suplex off the top turnbuckle. Mysterio kicks out after two. Punk favors his right elbow. Punk with a high knee to Mysterio in the corner. Punk misses a shoulder block and hits the steel ring post. Mysterio with a 619 on Punk in the corner area. Mysterio tosses Punk back in the ring, goes up top, but Punk gets his knees up to counter the splash from up top. Punk covers Mysterio and gets another two count. Punk yells out in frustration. Punk signals for the GTS. Punk with big knees on Mysterio, has Mysterio up and Mysterio counters into a rollup for a close two count. Punk catches Mysterio with a kick to the head, another cover and Mysterio again kicks out. Mysterio counters another GTS into an armdrag that sends Punk into the ropes. Mysterio attempts the 619, Punk ducks, gets Mysterio on his shoulders and drops him with the GTS. Punk gets the pinfall. Crazy finish sequence with the counter by Punk.

Winner: CM Punk

After the match, CM Punk walks up the ramp and holds his arms up in the air to celebrate his win.

A video package runs highlighting Randy Orton vs. Christian tonight.

Randy Orton (c) vs. Christian

We got ring introductions for the challenger Christian and the champion Randy Orton.

The bell rings and Randy Orton drops Christian right away with a right hand. Orton with a big stomp over the head of Christian. Christian fires back with some rights of his own. Orton with a Lou Thesz Press and more right hands. Orton with a headlock applied. Christian counters out and Orton connects with a shoulder block. Christian dumps Orton to the outside, hits the ropes and dropkicks Orton through the ropes. Christian then slingshots himself over the top rope, but Orton moves out of the way. Back in the ring, Orton with right hands over Christian in the corner. Orton then clotheslines Christian over the top rope. Orton follows Christian to the outside and Christian drops Orton face first off the steel ring steps. Christian tosses Orton back in the ring and stands over his chest/neck applying pressure. Christian with a quick neckbreaker. Orton with a quick rollup for a close two count. Christian fires back with a spinebuster for a two count of his own. Christian sits over Orton and nails him with two big right hands. Orton counters an irish whip sending Christian into the corner with force. Orton with a high back body drop on Christian. Orton with big forearm strikes to the chest of Christian. Orton catches Christian with a big snap powerslam. Orton headbutts Christian and grabs his head in pain. Orton pulls Christian up to the top turnbuckle and connects with a superplex. Orton with a hook of the leg and Christian kicks out after two. Orton has Christian up on his shoulder appearing to launch Christian down in a powerbomb, but he tosses Christian in the air and drops him down in a neckbreaker. Christian counters an RKO attempt and bails to the outside. Christian is back up on the ring apron and Orton hooks his head dropping him with his DDT through the ropes. Christian counters an RKO attempt with a reverse neckbreaker that results in a close two count. Christian backs up in the corner, attempts a spear, Orton counters, attempts an RKO, Christian counters and drops Orton with a spear. Christian covers…1…2…Orton gets a shoulder up at the last second. Christian can’t believe it. Orton drops Christian with a quick dropkick. Christian falls back into the corner and hits his kick to the face. Christian goes up top, jumps, Orton moves and hits the RKO. Orton covers Christian, Christian’s leg is under the bottom rope and the referee counts the pinfall.

Winner and still WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Randy Orton

After the match, the referee hands the title to Randy Orton who holds it up high. The announcers are not acknowledging Christian’s leg being under the bottom rope. We then see Christian grabbing the referee and telling him his foot was under the bottom rope. The referee says he didn’t see it. Orton is celebrating on the top turnbuckle when he turns to see Christian aruging with the referee. Orton then knocks out Christian with the World Heavyweight Championship. Orton smiles and celebrates once again. We then see highlights of the match leading to the finish that clearly showed Christian’s foot under the bottom rope. Cole argues in favor of Christian. Lawler and Booker T think his foot was under after the pinfall.

A promo for WWE Money in the Bank on Sunday, July 17 airs. They are using Shane McMahon’s “Money Money Money” theme for the show it appears.

The Bella Twins are coming out along with Keith Stone, spokesperson for Keystone Light beer. The Bella Twins later tweeted that they were hanging out at ringside with Stone.

We then go right into a video package hyping John Cena vs. R-Truth tonight for the WWE Championship.

Jack Swagger is now on his way out for a special bonus match tonight.

Jack Swagger vs. Evan Bourne

Swagger tosses Bourne aside right away when the bell rings after a lock up. Swagger with a big lifting takedown on Bourne. Bourne flips up and catches Swagger with a few kicks to the leg. Swagger drops Bourne with a shoulder block, but Bourne comes back with a springboard huricanrana. Swagger then responds dropping Bourne over his knee. Swagger does this a second time. We see a shot of Keith Stone sitting a ringside wearing a Ravishing Rick Rude t-shirt sipping on a Keystone Light (to see a photo, click here). Swagger continues dominating Bourne launching him into the corner with force and then hitting his springboard corner splash. Swagger with big forearms to the back of Bourne. Bourne fires back with another huricanrana. Bourne with kicks to the body of Swagger. Swagger with a quick scoop slam on Bourne, attempts a second corner splash and Bourne gets a boot up. Bourne with a kick to the chest and Bourne gets a two count. Swagger drops Bourne with a big boot and gets a two count. Bourne with a big DDT off the top rope on Swagger. Bourne with a kick to the head and kick to the chest combo. Bourne is going up top, jumps and Swagger dodges the Shooting Star Press. Swagger gets the ankle lock applied, Bourne counters rolling through and gets the pinfall.

Winner: Evan Bourne

After the match, Jack Swagger is upset screaming, “NO!” as Bourne heads up the ramp slapping a few hands.

A promo for tomorrow night’s three-hour “Power to the People” edition of Monday Night Raw airs.

The fake President Barack Obama is on his way out. He said when he should be working on the budget, he is actually watching Monday Night Raw. Lots of “WHAT!” chants. Obama wants to kill the rumor that he is the Anonymous General Manager of Raw. He adds if he was the GM, we would see less Michael Cole and more Jim Ross. Obama added, “I love that fat bastard.” Obama wishes John Cena and R-Truth good luck in the main event tonight. He goes to leave when Booker T calls him back to the ring. Booker says Obama has accomplished a lot, but he has yet to accomplish executing the Spinaroonie. He says he will show him and does it. Booker then asks everyone if they want to see the Barack-a-roonie. The fake Obama does some kind of a version of it. Cole said it was some kind of a spin. Lawler added, “Yeah, we have a lot of spin here in Washington, D.C.”

Before the match, R-Truth walked out with the WWE Championship over his shoulder. We got ring introductions for the challenger R-Truth and champion John Cena. Very mixed reaction for Cena in D.C. tonight.

The bell rings and we get a “LETS GO CENA – CENA SUCKS” dueling chant. Truth bails to the outside quickly after a brief lock up. Truth returns, lock up and Truth hits Cena with an elbow to the eye. Even more of a mixed reaction for Cena tonight. Truth counters an AA attempt early on. Truth drops Cena with a big right hand. Crowd is still going nuts over Cena. Truth with a quick leg drop over Cena. Test of strength between Cena and Truth. Truth breaks free and drops Cena with a corkscrew elbow. Booker T on commentary said he invented that move. Truth mocks Cena and drops him with another right hand. Cena drops Truth off the top rope, Cena rolls back in and takes a big clothesline from Truth. Truth continues to work over Cena in the corner. Truth drops Cena and gets a body scissors applied. Cena rolls through and attempts an STF, but Truth reaches the ropes. Truth immediately responds with a clothesline on Cena. Truth with a quick suplex on Cena. Truth misses a leg drop and Cena connects with a series of shoulder blocks. Cena with his twisting powerbomb and sets Truth up. Cena with the five knuckle shuffle, has Truth up, Truth jumps off and hits a suplex that is modified into a stunner. Truth with a two count on Cena and Truth can’t believe it. Truth misses a splash and Cena locks on the STF. Truth gets to the bottom rope and Cena breaks the hold before the five count. Truth catches Cena with a big kick to the gut and connects with his Scissors Kick. Cover by Truth and Cena powers out after two. Cena shows his power lifting Truth up, but Truth counters dropping Cena face first on the mat. Cena quickly rolled away out of the ring. Truth leaves the ring and takes a Cena hat off a little kid. The kid then throws his drink in Truth’s face. Cena tosses Truth back in the ring and hits the AA. Cena hooks the leg and gets the pinfall.

Winner and still WWE Champion: John Cena

After the match, John Cena celebrates with the WWE Championship and grabs the little kid from the front row bringing him into the ring. Cena celebrates with the little boy. The PPV goes off the air with Cena going back to the ringside area and shaking hands with members of the National Guard. Cena salutes the PPV viewing audience as we fade to black.
