6/16/11 Impact Wrestling Recap

Footage from Slammiversary opens Impact Wrestling with Bully Ray, Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle, Mr. Anderson and Sting giving their thought on the matches. Jarrett says his war with Angle won’t be over until he says it’s over, while Sting says he got screwed over by Eric Bischoff and he is going to get to the bottom of things.

Mr. Anderson’s music hits as the new World Champion makes his way to the ring, which is decked out with a beer keg, a stripper pole and a buffet table. Anderson says he invited everyone to his party but nobody decided to come. Anderson says he doesn’t need anyone and says the only people important to him are his wife, his niece, and himself. Anderson is then interrupted by Gunner’s music.

Gunner comes down to the ring and wonders if Anderson remembers asking him for help last week and Anderson owes him. Anderson thanks Gunner and tells him that his services are no longer required but Gunner instead wants a shot at the title. Anderson says there are a few others in the back that are ahead of Gunner and tells him to take a number. Anderson then pours himself some beer and tosses it in Gunners face. Gunner doesn’t take it too kindly and sends Anderson through the buffet table before leaving the ring.

We join the announce team who tells us about the Bound for Glory series where we will see who will earn a shot at the World Championship at Bound for Glory. We will also hear from Kurt Angle the Knockouts Tag Team Championships will be on the line as Sarita & Rosita defend against Velvet Sky & Miss Tessmacher. We then see Mexican America walking in the back as Hernandez will take on Devon and that match comes up next.

Sting is seen walking in the back as he has arrived to the Impact Wrestling Zone.

Match 1: Hernandez vs. Devon
We are treated to footage from Xplosion where Mexican America beat down Devon until D’Angelo Dinero came out to make the save. Devon’s family is sitting ringside for this match as the bell rings to get this contest started. Mexican America causes a quick distraction as Hernandez takes control of the match. Devon is able to turn the tide and hits Hernandez with a clothesline and a spear as the Pope comes out to the ringside area.

The Pope begins to mingle with Devon’s two sons as Hernandez rolls up Devon but he is able to kick out. Devon then takes Hernandez down with a Lou Thesz press until Mexican America swarm the ring and the referee calls for the bell. Devon’s sons tells Pope to help their father and he goes in and clears the ring. Devon begins to give Pope a piece of his mind before finally leaving the ring. Pope then stops by Devon’s family as Devon’s wife grabs him by the arm and gives him a smile and a look.

Mr. Anderson is seen storming into Eric Bischoff office and tells him that he has a problem with Gunner and tells him to get control of him. Bischoff talks about his business with the network and books him in a match against Gunner so he can take care of his own problems. Anderson agrees to it and walks out of Bischoff’s office.

Kurt Angle is seen walking in the back with his children as Mike Tenay tells us we will hear from Angle after the commercial break.

Kurt Angle’s music hits as he makes his way to the ring and we are treated to some photos of his match against Jeff Jarrett at Slammiversary. Angle says it took eight months, but he finally put his feud with Jarrett to rest. Angle then explains why he put his gold medals on the line by saying that he is training to be on the US Olympic Wrestling team in 2012. Angle says he may be crazy since he will be 43 years old, but he wants to represent his country one more time.

Jeff Jarrett’s music then cuts Angle off as he comes down to the ring with a microphone. Jarrett says it’s not over until he says it’s over and wants to finish things once and for all. Jarrett says there will be no Karen, no kids, no MMA, no steel cages, but just the two of them. Jarrett says TNA isn’t big enough for the both of them and wants one last shot at Angle to end everything in the parking lot. Jarrett says he would even move to Mexico if Angle beats him.

Angle wonders where Jarrett’s honor is and wonders what Jarrett’s ancestors would think of him now. Angle continues to say that if Jarrett will have a legal document written up that this will be though after one match, then he will agree to it. Jarrett agrees to the terms as their final brawl will take place in a parking lot.

A video package that runs down the Bound for Glory series is aired. Twelve wrestlers will be in the competion and a point system is in place where points is awarded to different matches that can take place on television, pay-per-view or during the TNA World Tour. The winner of the series will be awarded a shot at the World Championship at Bound for Glory. The first match kick off tonight with RVD taking on Samoa Joe.

Eric Young is backstage and runs into Matt Morgan. EY asks if Morgan is ready for his shot at the Television Championship. Morgan says he is part of the Bound for Glory series and says his sights are on the World Championship. EY says he has to defend the Television Championship against television stars and Morgan was on American Gladiators. Morgan says there is an executive in the back that used to be on a sitcom many years ago that would jump at the chance and walks away.

The announce team hype the Destination X pay-per-view and says that it will feature X Division stars of the past and present. A 12-man tournament will take place with the winner will be rewarded an Impact Wrestling contract.

Match 2: Kid Kash vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Austin Aries
Footage of the history of these three wrestlers are aired prior to the match. Aries is quickly tossed out to the floor as Rave and Kash go at it in the ring. The match moves at a frantic pace with Rave picking up a near fall after connecting with a spear in midair on Kash. Aries sends both Kash and Rave out to the floor before diving on top of them through the ropes. Rave is able to come back and sends Aries crashing down onto the ring apron and Kash follows by taking them both out with a dive off the top rope and onto the floor. The match returns to the ring where Aries nails Rave with a brainbuster to pick up the pin fall victory.

Velvet Sky and Miss Tessmacher are walking backstage and talking about their upcoming title match. Velvet says that after she wins the tag team titles she will be going after the Knockouts Championship as we head into a commercial break.

Mexican America are in the ring for the Knockouts Tag Team Championship match and Earl Hebner sends Hernandez and Anarquia to the back.

Match 3: Sarita & Rosita vs. Velvet Sky & Miss Tessmacher (Knockouts Tag Team Championship)
Velvet and Tessmacher start out strong against the champions with quick tags in and out of the ring. Tessmacher is able to pick up a near fall and this match soon breaks down with all four in the ring. Tessmacher and Velvet set up for a double suplex on Rosita but Velvet is distracted by ODB, who is coming out from the crowd. Velvet leaves the ring and Rosita and Sarita take out Tessmacher as Rosita picks up the pin fall to retain the titles. After the match, Tessmacher and Velvet exchange a few words as Tessmacher leaves the ring by herself.

ODB continues to talk trash to Velvet as Jackie comes into the ring from behind and takes Velvet down. ODB then joins in on the beat down as security storms the ring but ODB and Jackie hold their own against the security guards. Security finally gets order restored and separates the three from the brawl.

Jeff Jarrett is talking with Hulk Hogan and Jarrett is signing the legal documents to fight Kurt Angle. Hogan says he is betting on Jarrett as he leaves the office. Sting then enters the room and Hogan says he is going to honor Sting’s contract and he will get his rematch for the title on the July 14th edition of Impact Wrestling. Sting is taken back by all of this and Hogan says they have history and he owes it to him.

Sting begins to talk about their past and Hogan’s legacy and asks Hogan if this is the legacy he wants to leave behind. Sting finally strikes a nerve with Hogan before Sting goes crazy and trashes Hogan’s office. Sting then traps Hogan in the corner of the office and puts red paint on his face and tells Hogan make a choice before leaving.

ODB and Jackie are walking backstage and the two say that the Knockouts Division is messed up and they are there to clean house. Velvet Sky then runs up from behind but she is quickly taken out by as ODB and Velvet yell and scream at her.

Austin Aries is backstage and says he has proven why wrestling matters tonight. Eric Young then walks in and talks to Jason Hervey and tells him that he wants a match against him tonight. Young then takes Hervey down and tells Aries to make the three count and make the match official. EY then leaves the room as Hervey doesn’t know what just happened to him.

Match 4: Samoa Joe vs. Rob Van Dam (BFG Series Match)
The match starts and the two fight to a stand still as RVD goes out to the floor to regroup. RVD comes back into the ring and the two continue to go back and forth with strikes and kicks before Joe sends RVD crashing into the guard railing. Joe then dives through the ropes and onto RVD before rolling him back into the ring for a two count. RVD tries to mount a comeback but Joe takes him out with an enziguri for another near fall. Joe continues on the attack and picks up another near fall as it appears that Joe is showing signs of frustration.

RVD is able to finally get into the match by countering with a jawbreaker and then hits with Rolling Thunder to pick up a near fall. RVD then takes Joe down with a kick but Joe comes back with a urinagi. Joe then sets up for the muscle buster but RVD fights his way out of it and sends Joe down to the mat. RVD then connects with the Five Star Frog Splash to pick up the pin fall and picks up seven points in the Bound for Glory series.

Gunner is seen getting stitched up in the back and says he did Mr. Anderson a favor and tells Anderson not to take advantage of his kindness. Gunner says he likes to help people but he really doesn’t like anybody at all.

Jeff Jarrett is seen in the locker room and is taping up his fists as we head into the next match of the night.

Match 5: Gunner vs. Mr. Anderson
The match starts and Gunner starts out strong against the World Champion. Anderson finally retreats to the floor before taking control of the match with a neckbreaker. Anderson continues to wear down Gunner before picking up a near fall. Anderson then misses with a high risk move and Gunner uses the opening to retake control of the match. Gunner works Anderson over for a moment before picking up a two count on the champion.

Anderson is able to counter Gunner’s offense and begins to beat down his opponent. Anderson then has his microphone drop down and says he is still the World Champion. Anderson looks to finish off Gunner, but Gunner counters and drives Anderson down to the mat and picks up the pin fall over the World Champion. Eric Bischoff then comes down to the ring and shakes Gunner’s hand as the two laugh in Anderson’s face.

Kurt Angle is seen walking in the parking lot and the showdown between him and Jeff Jarrett is coming up next.

We are shown that Bully Ray and Scott Steiner will take each other on in the next Bound for Glory Series match. Scott Steiner is seen in the backstage area and wonders what Ray’s motivation is. Steiner tells Ray that he has one week to come up with a set of balls because he will beat him up next week. Ray tells Steiner to stop cracking jokes and reminds Steiner that he put him on the shelf by crushing his trachea two years ago.

The locker room is out in parking lot and vehicles have formed a circle as Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett are about to go at it for the final time.

Match 6: Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett (Parking Lot Brawl)
The two are wearing street clothes and Angle quickly takes Jarrett down and locks him in a body scissors, Jarrett bites his way out of the hold but Angle quickly gets back on him and begins to nail Jarrett with a series of punches. Angle then locks Jarrett in an arm bar but Jarrett fights his way out. Jarrett has a slight cut on his forehead as the wrestlers cheer the two on. Angle continues to wear down Jarrett by slamming him down onto the ground. Angle then walks near a car but Jarrett is able to send Angle headfirst into it.

Jarrett then rams Angle’s head into a van a couple of times as Jarrett tells Angle that he will not be leaving TNA. Jarrett then tells Angle to go to London and train for the Olympics and just get out of his life. Jarrett begins to walk away but Angle stands back up and tells Jarrett to come back and fight. Angle then slams Jarrett on the ground before hitting an Angle Slam on to the hood of a car. Angle begins to choke Jarrett out with his shirt. Jarrett says something and Angle walked away. Bully Ray covers for Jarrett and says he didn’t give up since nobody in Immortal gives up and Jarrett looks up and says adios as Impact Wrestling comes to a close.
