~ UFC/PRIDE/DREAM/Strikeforce light heavyweight veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou won his 3rd straight bout on Friday in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Sokoudjou defeated Roy Boughton via unanimous decision for the Score Fighting Series promotion. Sokoudjou moved his record to 12-8.
~ In a main event battle featuring UFC lightweight veterans, Brian “The Bandit” Cobb defeated Drew “Night Rider” Fickett via TKO (Punches) at 4:44 of the first round. The bout was held Friday in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for the Maximum Fighting Championships promotion. The win pushed Cobb’s record to 19-6 while Fickett’s fell to 41-14.
~ UFC/WEC lightweight veteran Alex Karalexis lost via split decision on Friday to Tiawan Howard in Lincoln, Rhode Island. The bout was the main event of Classic Entertainment & Sports- Nowhere To Run. Karalexis holds a 10-6 career record, going 1-2 in the UFC & 4-3 in the defunct WEC.
~ WEC featherweight veteran Roland Perez improved to 7-4-1 with his 3rd straight win on Saturday in Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines. Perez defeated Tony Reyes via unanimous decision under the Pacific X-treme Combat promotion. Perez lost both of his WEC bouts in 2009.
~ Nah-Shon Burrell (5-1 MMA, 0-0 SF) against fellow welterweight Joe Ray (5-1 MMA, 1-0 SF) is confirmed for this week’s Strikeforce event. “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum” takes place June 18 at American Airlines Center in Dallas. The night’s main card airs on Showtime, and the preliminary card airs on HDNet.
