The cause of death for Randy Savage

It’s been a little more than two weeks since the death of wrestler Randy “Macho Man” Savage, 58, and we now know the cause.

In an exclusive interview with Bright House Sports Network, Savage’s brother Lanny Poffo told us, Savage died from a condition known as ventricular fibrillation (VF). VF is a severely abnormal heart rhythm that can lead to fainting or heart attacks.

Poffo said, “What it means to me is, it was a beautiful way to die. It’s quick, painless.”

Also in the interview, Poffo called Savage’s wife, Lynn a hero. Poffo said, “Randy’s foot was still on the accelerator. She reached over and steered the Jeep Wrangler into a tree, saving the life of a motorcyclist and possibly a bus. You know, there’s no telling what can happen when you’re going the wrong way.”

What a shame, but look at it this way, he went fast, he didn’t suffer, and he was with his wife. He couldn’t have gone in much of a better way. We’re all sad about his death, but he went the “right way”, which was fast.

    Very well said Captain Ass!

  3. Adam says:

This was one of those things where I pretty much knew in my heart that Savage wasn’t on drugs or anything else to cause his death. But until this official word came out I was fearing it would be one of those “say it ain’t so Randy?” moments. So glad it was how I knew it was in my gut! RIP Macho Man…

I knew that it was nothing bad! Something my heart told me so. Rest In Peace, Macho Man. You will ALWAYS be remembered and live on in the hearts of every fan and wrestler. Oooooh, yeah!

  5. Steve says:

It’s basically what killed John Ritter. It’s hard to detect and can bring on a heart attack quick. His wife truly was a hero. I feel most sorry for her losing her husband.

  6. James says:

Don’t forget it almost killed Dean Malenko.

  7. xyu says:

Since all men have to die, at least he went fast and painless with the woman he loved. For that, I am thankful despite my sadness.
