Update on Paul Heyman

The former ECW mastermind, Paul Heyman, was tasked by Spike TV to help guide Shane Carwin sell his UFC 131 fight against Junior Dos Santos with less than a month to go for the Countdown show that Spike is now filming. Heyman, one of the best when it comes to talking and creativity in the business, is mentoring Lesnar’s former opponent after his close friend Brock Lesnar had to pull out of the fight against Dos Santos because of his illness. According to Wrestling Observer, Spike asked Heyman for his help and Heyman quickly accepted the deal. Spike and UFC were already filming the Countdown show with Lesnar when he had to pull out and Heyman was on Lesnar’s team during production.

Akward, but a jobs a job. So more power to ya Paul

  2. Really? says:

Spike has another show they could use Heyman’s help with…

I don’t think it is a bad move at all. I am sure that Paul knows how to keep this sort of thing professional when it is legit fighting as opposed to the incendiary sort of promo you would cut in wrestling. With that in mind, Heyman has probably already done all the research he would have on Dos Santos, and at this point it only makes sense to have him pass those efforts along to Carwin so that at least something comes of the work he had already begun.

  4. Captain A$$ says:

Paul Heyman is smart enough not to associate himself with a ship that has been going under for years. He won’t be in TNA, so don’t hold your breath on that one.

  5. HipnosisV1games says:

Paul Heyman wanted to change TNA into a MMA company so why should he be in TNA?

  6. -Jay- says:

Paul is a strategist and if anyone can help develop the raw talent in the UFC in from of the camera it would be Heyman.

  7. eddie says:

Hey captain a$$ ur comment made no since because what about ecw it was going down and heyman was there

  8. Captain A$$ says:

@ eddie – Even with the smart mind of Heyman, nothing can save TNA from themselves. They need people in charge that actually know what wrestling is. And even when that happens, it can be a disaster. Just ask Nash, Hall, and Hogan. Fact is, TNA can hire anyone they want, they can hand fliers out in Connecticut all they want, but they will always suck. I’m not putting down the performers, I’m putting down who runs the company. As long as the last name of Carter is seeing things through with TNA, they won’t ever be a success. Now if Heyman was the owner, it would stand a better chance, but not enough to really matter much. Also, ECW was around for 4 years before Heyman took it over. TNA has been around for 9 years, have spent millions on talent and to be on Spike TV, and it has done very little good, if any at all.

  9. KennyD says:

I read about a year ago that Paul is putting together another wrestling promotion with his former business partner from ECW … Since then; I’ve heard no more … just wondering what is going on ; perhaps plans fell threw …

If so; would LOVE to see Hogan and Bischof get the ax and bring in Paul as I bet he could make things a lot different and for the BETTER !!

  10. deathedge says:

Didn’t TNA want to bring Paul in, only for Spike TV execs to mess things up?

Not sure, but I’m almost positive I read that.

  11. Captain A$$ says:

I think it was Dixie and TNA management that messed it up. Heyman basically wanted full control. They didn’t want to relinquish the power because they are oh so successful with what they are doing. (yes, that was sarcasm)

  12. eddie says:

It was spike that axed the idea because they wanted someone more known in the business so they got hogan. Then when spike wanted to bring in Heyman tna stop it I think know that spike saw what heyman can do they want him for tna
