Report: Wrestlemania 27 tops 1 million in PPV buys

According to Marc Graser of Variety.com, this year’s Wrestlemania has surpassed 1 million ppv buys. According to Graser, the number is up from last year by almost 30% domestically and nearly 15% overseas. Exact figures should be released in the coming weeks.

    I think the increase in buys can be credited to the Rock. People were clearly into the idea of seeing the Rock and Cena square off, even if it didn’t happen in an official fashion. And then all those people were sadly subjected to an incredibly mediocre Wrestlemania.

    This will help in the build to next year with Cena/Rock and if the rumours of Austin coming back as well, next year could be the biggest buy in WWE history.

    It should be interesting to see what UFC’s buyrate tonight is.
